It is with regret that Phil Merrick will be standing down as Chairman of Prestatyn Town FC on 31st December

    2013.

The message below is what outgoing Chairman Phil Merrick has asked the club to convey to our fans

I have an exciting opportunity to develop my Peoplemad performance coaching business which is too good to

turn down and I will need to give it 100% commitment from the beginning of 2014.

I would like to thank everyone at the club who have helped me over these last two years or so. Weve overcomelots of challenges together, I am very proud of what has been achieved and I will never forget the exciting times

that Neil and the team gave us in the summer.

The club will always be close to my heart. Ill still get to as many games as I can and will be an ambassador for

the club when Im out and about in the corporate world, spreading the Seasiders good name.

As far as the future is concerned there is a lot to look forward to. The club is now in a stable financial position

and I think this is the best first team and reserve team squad of players that weve ever seen at Bastion Gardens.

The fact that there are so many local lads in the squad is a testament to all the management and coaching staff

that have been involved at the club over the last few years.

The great work we are doing under the Community Seasiders banner and recent changes to the Academy

structure all bode well for the future and we have a thriving clubhouse, tea bar and club shop. This is because we

have some great people who give their time freely for no other reason than they love Prestatyn Town FootballClub. I would therefore like to say a big thank you to all the volunteers who run the club in their spare time and

of course the fans who are THE best. Their contribution to the running of PTFC both financially and vocally is

immense - words cannot express how grateful I am for their help.

Also I would like to reiterate what I said at the testimonial dinner for Jon Hill-Dunt and David Hayes. It is

important that everyone gets behind the team and gives their full support. Results havent gone our way but as

long as everyone works hard and they are doing everything they can to improve their own individual

performances then the team performances will follow. We've got a great management team and the players are

more than good enough to turn things around. This message does not change because I am no longer the

Chairman. Ill do everything I can to help but it would not be in the best interests of the club for me to stay on

when I physically dont have the time. If I do something I want to do it properly.

I have loved my time as Chairman and its been great fun, but it is a volunteering role and my business andfamily must come first. Hopefully everyone will understand because the last two years have been very exciting

and this has been one of the most difficult decisions I have ever had to make. We are town.

CEO Leigh Williams has this message for the Town fans

I would like to thank Phil on behalf of the club for taking up the role as Chairman for the last two years, his will

to achieve and be successful and remain positive at all times will be his lasting impression on me and I hope to

keep that going at the club whilst we look for his successor. I wish Phil every success in his new business

    venture. All the best Phil.

I will now be working hard as ever to move this club forward with our manager and the coaching team and put

it back where it belongs. The Directors of the club will now act swiftly to appoint Phil's successor and hope to

appoint someone soon in the near future

JDs WEBSITE REVIEWABERYSTWYTH TOWN - www.atfc.co.uk

I was at Park Avenue for the visit of Caersws on the opening day of the new Football League of Wales in Augustof 1992 and have made countless visits to the excellent venue over the past 21 years. Aberystwyth have of coursebeen ever present in our League and long may that continue. At the moment they are just in the top half of thetable and are obviously intent in maintaining that position at the January split. On visitingwww.atfc.org.ukI found a site that is well constructed and easy to navigate. There are, however, somehighs and lows. The Home page has news items that are updated quite regularly, but the information regardingfixtures at Park Avenue was not up to date, which is really not acceptable. On 2

ndDecember, the reader is in fact

informed that the next fixture is the visit of Rhyl on 22nd

    November.

As is the case on most sites there are numerous headings where further information can be gleaned. My first portof call was the First Team page where I found a squad list with pen pictures and photographs, together with aLeague table and fixtures and results, the latter not having been updated throughout November.

On moving on to the Ladies Page, I was absolutely delighted to find pen pictures and photographs of the team thatplay in the Welsh Womens Premier League. However, on moving to the fixtures and results section, I againfound that there had been no updates of November results.Having been previously delighted, I was almost ecstatic to find Player lists with photographs of both the Under 19

and Disability Squads, which I consider equally important to the First Team in any WPL club. There is also an Academy Page giving comprehensive information and also details of the Football in theCommunity Scheme. There are numerous links to other sites and details of sponsorship and hospitalityopportunities.A unique aspect of Aberystwyth Town is their links with local student

community. I was therefore really pleased to see that the student supportershave their own dedicated page on the club website. In conclusion, I was generally pleased with what I found on the site, which

with a little more attention to detail could be really excellent.

AFAN LIDO FC www.afanlidofc.comAfan lido have secured the temporary loan signing of Striker Alex Chrysanthou from Carmathen Town untilDecember 31st 2013

We would like to thank Carmarthen Town (especially Gareth jones) for all their help in allowing Afan Lido tosecure Alex signature.Chrysanthou, 26, joined the Old Gold from Welsh League side West End at the beginning of the season. TheLondon born player had won a League Championship medal last term with the Swansea based side. In this currentcampaign he has started in three Welsh Premier League games with one appearance from the bench.

"Alex is a class player," said Aizlewood, "but at the moment he is unable to break into our first team. However, Idon't want to lose him but on the other hand it is essential that he gets match playing time.""I have agreed for him to go to Lido as I think it is essential that South Wales keeps as many teams as possible inthe Welsh Premier League. Alex will be a great help to them as well as gaining personal experience at the club."

AIRBUS UK BROUGHTON www.airbusfc.comAIRBUS ended a tough seven days by beating Bala Town 2-1 on Friday night to make it seven points from threegames and director of football Andy Preece reflected on what he described as his best week in management.A depleted squad won 1-0 at Carmarthen before drawing 2-2 at home to Rhyl in midweek. And, to add to the crisis at the Hollingsworth Group Stadium, Mike Roddy and Steve Jones missed the visit ofBala through suspension and injury respectively."It's a huge three points, we've had an unbelievable week," Preece said."When we set out at the start of the week with the players that we had available, to get seven points out of nine isprobably the best week we've had as a management team and as a group, probably since I've been managing."We were struggling so badly with players out of position and playing injured so it's a nice result, it's fantastic."It was especially so in the second half when we're against the wind, they get the early goal with a great finish andwe soaked up the pressure.

"We always looked lively on the break and, overall, we just about nicked it an deserved to win the game. We werea little bit more dangerous against the wind than they had been in the first half."They showed their quality with their efforts from distance which were better than what we did, we didn't workthe keeper enough, James Coates has made a couple of good saves and they've hit the outside of the post.

"But we had enough opportunities really to be two or three up at half time, but second half we created plenty."The Wingmakers now have a two-week break from Welsh Premier action with the visit of Penybont in the WelshCup on Saturday.

Suspended trio Jay Owen, Phil Bolland and Mike Roddy will be available for selection and Preece also hopessome injuries will have time to heal.

"The lads can have a bit of a rest - the same lads have played the last three games and they are absolutelyshattered," Preece went on.

"Hopefully a couple of injuries will clear up and we have a couple back from suspension so we'll be that muchstronger going into the five or six games before the split."We wanted to get into a position where we could reflect and now we've got an 11-point gap from us to third

place when, two games ago, it could possibly have gone down to one."It's been a massive week for us."

BANGOR CITYBANGOR CITY PLAYERS SHINE IN WALES COLLEGES SUCCESS - Congratulations to Bangor Cityplayers who were part of the Welsh Colleges U-19s men's team which beat their Scottish counterparts at

Galashields last Thursday.City first team squad members and Coleg Menai academy stars Corey Jones, Iolo Hughes and John Littlemoretook part in the match, with Iolo and John each scoring twice as Wales triumphed 4 - 2.Fellow Coleg Menai Academy players Nathan Moore, Craig Whelan, Ross Jones, Sam Faulkner, Nathan Moore,Ryan Samuel, Callum Davidson and Nathan Williams also featured in the squad for this great win. Craig andCallum are also part of Bangor Citys successful U19s team. Bangor City chairman Dilwyn Jones congratulated the lads on the victory, saying, "I'm delighted that so manyboys from the Coleg Menai Academy contributed to this fantastic result - and I'm especially pleased that playerslike Corey, Iolo and John are knocking on the door as far as selection for City's first team is concerned."Well done to the players, and coaching staff at Coleg Menai"Bangor City manager Nev Powell had mixed feelings after seeing City dominate our away match at Rhyl , yethaving to come away satisfied with a 0 - 0 draw.

"You have to be satisfied with an away point and a clean sheet" said Nev, "but having said that, we had chances totake all 3 points, and when we were on target, their keeper had a great match.

"So yes, I am a tad disappointed, but the point keeps our good run going, and keeps us on target to finish in the topsix come the half-season break."Asked about the repeat match next weekend, where City will again travel to Rhyl, but this time for a Welsh Cupclash, Nev said, "To be honest, we haven't started thinking about that yet. It'll be a different match altogether, buta tough one, we know."

CARMARTHEN TOWN www.carmarthentownafc.comFollowing Carmarthen Town's surprising defeat against Newtown, manager Mark Aizlewood was quitephilosophical with his views on the game."We did not play to the best of our ability," he said. "We have now lost two home games in succession butfortunately we are still in third position in the league - and we have a game in hand over those teams behind us.""The ball did not run for us today and we were beaten by two sucker-punches within a three minute spell halfwaythrough the second half. We did not defend well for their second goal and should have been aware of the move.Even so, I thought that our players coped fairly well but football is a game of ups-and-downs and at the momentwe are in the downs."

"I thought that Cortez Belle and Liam McCreesh both had superb games and it was a surprise to me that otherplayers did not seem to respond to their creativeness.""Saying that, we have a Cup game coming up against Port Talbot Town next Saturday and by then I hope theplayers will have got this defeat out of their systems. We need to win the game if we are to go on a Cup run so Ishall be working on various tactics during training this week.".

NEWTOWN AFC www.newtownafc.co.ukHe's a striker who has spent over 13 years in the professional game, scoringgoals, and lighting up stadiums where ever he played. He has playedalongside players like Ian Wright and Chris Waddle, and played at some ofthe countrysbiggest grounds. And it all started at Latham Park for him.

Striker Andy Cooke was a prolific marksman for Newtown and for every clubhe played for. He began his career back in 1991 as a 17-year-old YTS scholarat Telford United, but despite playing conference football at such a youngage, Cooke decided to leave the Shropshire club. And his path led to Latham Park. At 19 he was signed by Brian Coyne atNewtown, and he said it is a move that set him up well for what happened inthe future."I played under Brian Coyne and Jake King who were massive influences onmy career. It was the first Premier League of Wales sponsored by Konica, which boosted the profile of the league"The Newtown side back then consisted of Barton, Pike, Hamner and

Roberts. And playing for the side as a young boy helped me massively in

making it as a professional," said Cooke. The centre forward enjoyed some great scoring success in his three years atNewtown, scoring 35 goals in 80 games in Mid Wales. And this then attracted the attention of the English clubs."I remember after scoring goals at Newtown, the side had a agreed a deal with Crewe, and I went their to train

with them and then to sign. Back then they had the likes of Robbie Savage, Danny Murphy and Neil Lennonplaying. But a few days after that and while Crewe were drawing up the paper work, Burnley came in for me.

Brian and Jake took me up to Turf Moor that day, and after talks I signed," added the former Robin.Cooke went on to enjoy great scoring success in Lancashire, playing over 150 games for the Clarets, before goingon to play for Stoke City, Bradford, Darlington, Buscan I'cons and Shrewsbury Town. The marksman grabbed 149 goals in 481 games during his career, but he believes that back then it was muchharder to get into the professional game.

'Personally I think it was much harder back then to make a breakthrough," said Cooke.

He added, "How could no one take a chance on a teenager who had been scoring goals and playing at conferencelevel, or why did no one pick me up at a professional club at a young age. It's a prime example for youngster today that if you show promise, someone will be looking at you."Cooke recalls some of his Newtown days, and how the travelling he had to do in the League of Wales almost gavehim more incentive."It was a massive amount of travelling for me then as it was 50 miles to Newtown, and then you've got the likes of

Port Talbot and Haverfordwest to name a few. But this was a massive learning curve for me and just made mewant to make it even more," said the forward. And despite players having the skill to make it as a professional footballer, like Cook had, he believes that selfbelief is a massive part to play, and that comes from the coaches."I think being at Newtown helped with my self-belief and you can't always generate that from within. Coaches

have influences on certain individuals and that certainly helped make my dream."And I think that playing proper men's football can only help with development. I became a mentally tough, hardworking, controlled, aggressive player. An old fashioned centre forward if you like and that helped me in mycareer," said the former Stoke man.And Cooke fondly recalls a certain Welsh Cup tie as one of his stand out Latham Park moments."A game I managed to remember was against Wrexham in the Welsh Cup at Latham Park. We drew 1-1 in frontof a sell out crowd and I managed to get the equaliser."But trips to Cardiff were always good ones, where we would stay over night and have a night out. Team buildingexercises we would call them."The striker, who had a long professional career retired from football after leaving Shrewsbury Town, and hebelieves it is a massive decision to make for any footballer."Retiring from football is so tough, and your lifestyle can change completely and you can't prepare for it. People

say you can but sometimes it doesn't work like that."I had a break from football when I probably shouldn't have," said Cooke looking back at the final days atShrewsbury.

Cooke currently runs a side at Shrewsbury School working alongside ex Shrewsbury Town man Steve Biggins, and Cooke says he is now working towards coaching in the professional game."I have a massive love for coaching and I believe I can bring players on and develop them. I am working very

hard to gain my experience and qualifications to get into the professional game but that won't happen overnight,"admitted Cooke.

In 2011 Cooke took up the role as Director of Football at Market Drayton Town in the Evo Stick League, andhelped them survive relegation on a tight budget, similar to recent years at Latham Park.

And the ex Newtown marksman hopes the Robins will be back up the top again soon, but understands thefinancial constraints that some clubs have to work with."Newtown are and always will be on of the top sides in Wales and hopefully they can get back to the top and

compete, but under tight budgets it's difficult to achieve what you want to."I've seen that the current form is good, and the transition from Bernard McNally to Chris Hughes may take sometime to adjust," said Cooke. But he added, "Newtown is a great family club with great support that can only aid the club in the future. Iobviously will always love the club as they gave me my first chance, and I wish them every luck in the future."

After taking a look back at his career as a whole, and recalling the high moments from Latham Park to the footballleague, Cooke believes young talents need to strive to be the best they can.

"Looking back at my professional career I have been very lucky to have played at some top clubs like Burnley andStoke, and play with quality players like Dean Windass, Chris Waddle and Ian Wright.

"And I have played on some of the biggest grounds such as Wembley, Anfield and the Millennium Stadium."But football is not easy. You will definitely have more downs that you do ups, but you strive to be the best youcan and that's all you can do."

Andy Cooke was interviewed by Jonny Drury, Newtown AFC Press Officer

PORT TALBOT TOWN www.porttalbottown.co.ukSubject to recent media reports Port Talbot Town Football Club strongly wish to refute any suggestion that theclub faces any financial uncertainty following a proposed winding up petition.

Whilst there was an outstanding liability to HMRC, the debt was paid well in advance of any deadline and we aresurprised and disappointed to see this reach the public domain and tarnish the good name of our long-standing

    football club..

PRESTATYN TOWN www.ptfconline.co.ukNeil Gibson will take on the role of Academy director and he will be assisted by Chris Morrell as head of youth.Director of Football Gibson said he was delighted that local lad Chris Morrell had decided to take on the role ofhead of youth development. He has a proven pedigree, is local and has played and worked with us before so

understands the importance placed on bringing local players through the academy system into the first teamsquad. Both Neil and Chris have already been busy announcing that Mark Williams and Jack Lewis will assistChris by assisting with the development of the primary squads under the guidance of Chris.Chris said earlier today "As a former Prestatyn town captain I'm delighted that the club has given me thisopportunity. The club has a great tradition of promoting local players through its academy to its first team and it's

now our job to help develop the next batch. In my role as head of development for the North Wales coast FA I'vebeen fortunate to see the progression of a series of young players go professional, represent their country and play

Welsh premier football, and I know at this club that the Welsh premier league opportunity is a strong reality. Ihave some short term and long term objectives for the academy as there are some excellent academies across

North Wales now, but with a lot of hard work from myself and all of our coaches, I am confident we can competewith any of them. I am looking forward to the challenge and I am proud to accept the roll.Chris was in attendance today to see the 12s and 14s play Chester Academy. Although both lost there were someexcellent performances from the players and lots of positives for Chris to work with."..

    THE NEW SAINTS FC www.tnsfc.co.uk

The New Saints set new recordSaturday's 3-0 victory over Prestatyn at Park Hall secured The New Saints' 7th home victory in 7 matches in thisseason's Corbett Sports WPL.It is an enviable record of course - but the fact that they've scored 28 goals in the process without concedingmakes for even more impressive reading.Taking last season's home record into account - The New Saints have now won their last 15 matches in Oswestrywhich is a club record. It also surpasses Barry Town's feat of winning 14 on the bounce.Following recent media speculation the club can today confirm that no official approach has been made formidfielder Sam Finley.Although the club have had no official approach for Sam, we recognise his talent along with other talentedplayers we have at our disposal commented Chief Operating Officer Ian Williams. We regularly have scouts from a number of English based clubs attending our games at Park Hall stadium andhaving players of the quality of Sam Finley is not only good for The New Saints but also for the profile of theCorbett Sports Welsh Premier League and proves how clubs from across the border now view the quality of theWelsh Premier League and the talent that is has within it.The last TNS player to move to a football league club was winger Craig Jones. The winger is now a regular firstteam player for Sky Bet League two side Bury.

THE LAST WORD from Gwyn DerfelThere are different kinds of winning. Hats off to The New Saints on one hand for continuing their

fantastic home record. Saturday's 3-0 victory over Prestatyn at Park Hall secured their 7th home victory

in 7 matches in this season's Corbett Sports WPL.

It is an enviable record of course - but the fact that they've scored 28 goals in the process without

conceding makes for even more impressive reading.Taking last season's home record into account - The New Saints have now won their last 15 matches in

Oswestry which is a club record. It also surpasses Barry Town's feat of winning 14 on the bounce.

On the final whistle on Saturday, would the Saints players have celebrated more than the Afan Lido

squadwho certainly seem to have turned the corner recently? While I know that I have to be impartial

Im really pleased that Paul Evans and his boys have got a few wins under their belts. It certain ly makes

it exciting at the foot of the table.

The Super 12 format was one of the topics that were discussed at the Chairmens Meeting in Newtown

on Sunday. While the system is not perfect the vast majority of the kingmakers present agreed that

standards have improved since the introduction of the Super 12. It is hugely important that the decisionmakers at the clubs and the FAW get together on occasions of this nature as we all aim to promote the

League we all love even further.

One man who has certainly contributed greatly to his club and the League is John Dawkins - who after

years of service has decided to relinquish his duties as Club Secretary at Port Talbot Town. Our League

would not be able to function without people of Johns ilk. Many thanks JohnIm sure that youll still

be a familiar face at the GenQuip in the future.

Y GAIR OLAF gan Gwyn DerfelMae na wahanol fathau o ennill. Ar un llaw rhediad o fuddugoliaethau cartref fel Y Seintiau Newydd.Wrth iddyn nhw guro Prestatyn ddydd Sadwrn hawliodd Y Seintiau eu saithfed buddugoliaeth allan o

saith ar Neuadd y Parc y tymor yma.

Maent wedi sgorio 28 o goliau ond heb ildio 'run.

Wrth gynnwys gemau'r tymor diwethaf mae criw Croesoswallt bellach wedi ennill pymtheg gornest

gartref o'r bron sy'n curo record Y Barri o bedwar ar ddeg.

Ar y llaw arall beth am hawlio buddugoliaeth brin fel ddigwyddodd i Lido Afan dros y Sul? A fyddair

llwyddiant hwnnw wedi bod yn felysach i chwaraewyr y Lido na charfan Y Seintiau? Rwyn gwybodfy

mod i fod yn ddi-duedd ond maen rhaid i mi ddweud mod in falch dros Paul Evans ai fechgyn wrth

iddyn nhw droi perfformiadau addawol i mewn i ambell fuddugoliaeth.

Roedd fformat y Deuddeg Disglair yn un or pynciau trafod yng nghyfarfod y Cadeiryddion yn Y

Drenewydd ddydd Sul. Dywr system ddim yn berffaith wrth gwrs ond roedd hin braf clywed mai

dymar drefn fwyaf addas ar ein cyfer ar hyn o bryd a bod cytundeb bod safon y Cynghrair wedi gwella

ers ei gyflwyno. Maen allweddol bod y bobl syngwneud y penerfyniadau pwysig yn y clybiau a staff y

Gymdeithas yn meithrin perthynas syn hybur Cynghrair sydd mor bwysig i ni gyd ymhellach.

Un dyn sydd wedi cyfrannun fawr yn ei ffordd ei hun yw John Dawkins sydd wedi penderfynu ildior

awennau fel Ysgrifennydd Port Talbot wedi blynyddoedd o wasanaeth. Ni fyddai ein Cynghrair yn

bodoli oni bai am gyfraniad John ai debyg. Diolch John gobeithioch gweld yn fuan iawn i lawr ar y

    GenQuip.
