This Week’s Highlights

• Wesley Village Annual Spirit Renewal – Thursday, October 2nd 2:00 p.m. - This event was rained out last week so we will hope for better weather this Thursday! If you would like to attend and will need a ride, please call the front desk at 203-929-5396.

• Trip to Mystic Aquarium – Thursday, October 2nd – If you signed up for this trip, the vans will start picking up at 9:00 am. Payment is due no later than Monday, Sept. 29th.

• Bible Study – Friday, October 3rd will be the first of six Bible Study classes that will be held on Friday afternoons from 1:30 – 2:30 pm. (See attached flyer for details)

Lunch at Easton United Methodist Church

On Tuesday, October 14th, the Easton UMC is hosting a luncheon for Wesley Heights residents. We will leave at 11:00 a.m. and return at approximately 2:30 p.m. This is a free trip and is limited to the first 12 residents who sign up. Enjoy fellowship with church members and a wonderful home-cooked meal. If you would like to go on this trip, please sign up with Linda Fera (203-225-7981).

10:00 a.m. Dog Visit – Enjoy a friendly visit with our therapy dog(s). – Sunroom

1:00–2:00 p.m. Village Store – Store will be open for your shopping needs.

2:00 p.m. Bingo – See if you hold a lucky card and can win a prize! – Dining Room

3:30 p.m. Wii Bowling - Enjoy a bit of friendly competition playing this interactive bowling game on the big screen TV with our volunteer Samantha. If you don’t want to play, why not come down and cheer on our bowlers! – Activity Room

6:00 p.m. Saturday Night Movie – “Angel in the House” – After a toy factory owner and his wife get an unexpected visit from a precocious 7-year-old boy, their world will be turned upside down! Deciding to take him in as a foster child, they begin a miraculous adventure that showcases the joy of family. – Activity Room (Movie is approx 1 ½ hours long)

Saturday, September 27

9:30 a.m. Transportation to St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church and United Methodist Church

1:00 p.m. Sunday Movie – “The Poseidon Adventure” – The plot centers on the SS Poseidon, an aged luxury liner on her final voyage from New York City to Athens before being sent to the scrapyard. On New Year's Eve, she is overturned by a tsunami. Passengers and crew are trapped inside, and a rebellious preacher (Gene Hackman) attempts to lead a small group of survivors to safety. The film also stars Jack Albertson, Ernest Borgnine, Red Buttons, Roddy McDowall, and Shelley Winters. – Activity Room (Movie is approx. 2 hours long)

3:00 p.m. Ice Cream Social – Today our volunteers Sara and Riana will be serving hot fudge sundaes. Pick the toppings you like best and create your own sundae! – Sunroom

10:00 a.m. Trivia with Keith – See how many fun facts you can remember! - Activity Room

11:00 a.m. Exercise with Diane – Keep fit and flexible – Activity room

2:00 p.m. Ten Cent Bingo - Pay 10 cents per card to play. Winner of each game takes the money in the pot. If more than one person wins a game, the pot will be split. Gather up your dimes and see how much money you can win! – Activity Room

3:15 p.m. Scrabble with Peers – Keep your mind sharp by playing this classic board game. – Sunroom

6:30 p.m. Uno – Play this fun and fast-moving card game with our volunteer Veronica.- Sunroom

10:00 a.m. Worship Service – All are welcome to attend. – Activity Room Chapel

11:00 a.m. Kitchen Sink Exercises – This 15-minute standing routine can help improve your balance! – Sunroom

1:00 – 2:00 pm Village Store – Store will be open for all your shopping needs.

3:30 p.m. Happy Hour – Enjoy social time with your friends and neighbors and our volunteers Joanne, Frank, and Marge! Both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages will be available. – Sunroom

10:00 a.m. Morning Chat with Joan – Join our volunteer Joan Pollack to chat about topics of interest. Have you heard something interesting on the news, read a good book lately, or just have something on your mind….why not share with others and get the conversation started in this informal setting. – Southeast Lounge

10:00 a.m. Meditation with Pete – Activity Room (chapel side)

11:00 a.m. Exercise – Keep fit and flexible. – Activity Room

2:00 p.m. Music with Jon Condie– Enjoy an afternoon of music with the ever-entertaining Jon Condie. - Activity Room

2:00 p.m. Oil Painting with Janna – Sunroom

6:00 p.m. Wednesday Night Movie – “Amish Grace” – When tragedy takes the lives of five Amish schoolgirls in Pennsylvania, Ida, the mother of one of the girls, graces a profound test of faith. As she begins to feel like an outsider within her own community, Ida must decide whether or not to stay with the Amish and her beloved husband. This film is a moving testament to the power of forgiveness. – Activity room (Movie is approx 1 ½ hours long)

Wednesday, October 1

9:00 a.m. Trip to Mystic Aquarium – If you signed up for this trip, please meet promptly in the front lobby. Cottage residents will be picked up at their doors.

9:30 a.m. Prayer Shawl Ministry – If you like to knit or crochet, you are welcome to join this group. All items made will be donated to those in need. – Sunroom

10:00 a.m. Coffee Time – Share social time with your friends and neighbors and our volunteers Joyce and Jackson while enjoying a cup of coffee. - Sunroom

11:00 a.m. St. Margaret Mary Catholic Service – Activity Room Chapel

1:00 p.m. Rosary with Marie – Pray the Rosary with our volunteer Marie Marra. – Activity Room (chapel side)

2:00 p.m. Wesley Village Annual Spirit Renewal – We were rained out last week but hope to have better weather today for this community event. All residents, staff, and family members are welcome to attend. The theme is, “Celebrating the Fire Within” and will include a special smoke signal ceremony. The event will be held at the Bishop Wicke pond and refreshments will be served. If you need a ride, be sure to sign up at the front desk (203-929-5396).

9:30 a.m. Kings in the Corner – Join our volunteer Sue to play this fun and easy-to-learn card game. - Sunroom

1:30 p.m. Bible Study – “St. Paul and His Letter to the Church at Ephesus” – Rev. Dr. Albert Miller, retired UMC minister and Wesley Village resident, will lead the session. - Activity Room Chapel

3:30 p.m. Pokeno – Join our volunteer Kristin to play this game that is similar to Bingo but playing cards are called instead of numbers. When you have “Pokeno” (5 chips in a row) you’ll win a dollar! – Activity Room (kitchen side)

6:00 p.m. Bowling – Join our resident volunteer, Gerry, for a fun game of bowling! If you don’t want to play, come on down and cheer on our bowlers! - Sunroom
