“My first visit to Wesleyan’s campuswas as a high school freshman attendinga cheerleading camp. A couple of yearslater, when considering college choices,I did not even apply anywhere else.I just had a feeling this was the placefor me. I wanted to concentrate onmy academic goals and I felt thatWesleyan would be a supportiveenvironment. Between accessiblefaculty and a community of sisterhood,Wesleyan exceeded my expectations.”

“Students at WesleyanCollege are incrediblyinvolved, love to have agood time, and we allknow how to get seriouswhen it’s time to getserious.”
Excerpt from The Princeton Review’sannual college guide.
Hardworking& Outspoken
“At Wesleyan, classes are small, focused, and personal. Professors
challenge you to think harder, aim higher, and seize opportunity.”
When the average class size is just 10 students,it’s impossible to sit back and be quiet. Ourprofessors truly do encourage spirited discussionand debate, challenging students to think acrossdisciplines and delve into moral and ethicalissues. Not only are students required to beprepared and to speak up but also they’rerequired to invest fully in their own futures. The Princeton Review gives Wesleyan anacademic rating of 97 and ranks us 16th inthe nation for “Best Classroom Experience”and “Class Discussion Encouraged.”
“Wesleyan has given memuch more than knowledge. As a Wesleyan Woman, I amdetermined to pursue socialjustice and to positivelychange the world.”

Clearly, our high score indicates a
low incidence of overindulgence.
Our students are consistently
recognized for low alcohol,
liquor, and marijuana use. That’s
not to say that Wesleyan women
are prudes or prohibitionists.
They just know what it doesn’t
take to get into graduate schools
at places like Yale, Stanford, MIT,
and Duke.

DREW GODDARDEARLY CHILDHOODEDUCATION & MUSIC
Whether or not she chooses Wesleyan, one
of the best lessons your daughter can learn
is the importance of taking responsibility for
her financial future. Our advice: Don’t shield
her from the money matters. This is a great
opportunity for her to begin learning about
value, cost, paperwork, and deadlines.
If the cost of college concerns you, you should
know that Wesleyan spends millions of
dollars each year for student
scholarships, grants, and
campus jobs. Because we are
committed to helping every
qualified young woman afford a
Wesleyan education, we set our
tuition well below that of most
private colleges.
As the world’s oldest women’s
college, we support your
daughter’s right to an
affordable, life-changing
education.

A parent’s guide to Wesleyan.History. Chartered in 1836, Wesleyan was the first college in the world to grant degrees to women.
Every year since then, Wesleyan women have been making history. First for Women isn’t just a claim
to fame — it’s a philosophy that separates our learning community from all others. We’re anchored in
tradition and guided by an innovative spirit, and we take our role as a pioneer in women’s education
seriously.
Campus. Our beautiful 200-acre wooded campus, along with thirty historically significant buildings, is
listed in the National Register of Historic Places as the Wesleyan College Historic District. Wesleyan
is nestled in a northern suburb of Macon, the third largest city in the state. Beautiful, white-columned
Georgian-styled buildings surround a classic quadrangle that plays host to many college events. Our
150-year-old trees are a beautiful contrast for our recently renovated residence halls; multi-million
dollar athletic, wellness, and equestrian facilities; and a state-of-the-art science center. It’s a truly
inspired setting.
Recognition.Wesleyan is regarded as one of the nation’s finest liberal arts colleges and is consistently
recognized for academic excellence. According to the seventh annual report of the National Survey of
Student Engagement (NSSE), Wesleyan outperformed the Top 10% of colleges and universities nationally
in all five categories studied: active and collaborative learning, enriching educational experiences, level of
academic challenge, student-faculty interaction, and supportive campus environment.
Student Life. Students from across the U.S. and more than twenty other countries value a rigorous
academic program renowned for its quality. An exceptional faculty teaches classes in seminar style.
A student-faculty ratio of 9 to 1 ensures that each student is more than just a grade or a number.
The acceptance rate of our students into medical, law, business, and other graduate programs is
exemplary. Beyond the academic, Wesleyan offers a thriving residence life program, NCAA Division
III athletics, championship IHSA equestrian program, and meaningful opportunities for spiritual
development and community leadership.
Academics. We offer undergraduate degrees in 31 majors and 26 minors, as well as eight pre-
professional programs including seminary, engineering, medicine, pharmacy, veterinary medicine,
allied health services, dentistry, and law. Students also have the opportunity to self-design their
own majors. Wesleyan offers a dual-degree program in engineering with the Georgia Institute of
Technology in Atlanta; Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama; and Mercer University in Macon. A
Master of Education program and an accelerated Executive Master of Business Administration
program enroll both men and women.
Tuition.Wesleyan offers a strong merit scholarship program and is recognized as one of the nation’s
most affordable selective colleges. In fact, according to the editors of USA TODAY and The Princeton
Review, Wesleyan is the nation’s #9 Best Value Private College because of our low costs of attendance
and near perfect academic ratings.
2011-2012 Annual Tuition: $18,500; plus $8,200 room& board.
