Wednesday 13th May—EARLY BUSES FOR
ALL - NO CLUBS
The New Forest
West Buckland Prep School
Welcome Back! We hope you all had a wonderful Easter holiday and have enjoyed the break. We have many exciting events this term including, the Prep 3 and 4 Musical, “Wind in the Willows“ on 20th and 21st May; Sports Day, Prize Giving, the Pre-Prep Sports Day and Prizes, the Year 5 residential trip to Portsmouth, various recitals, our Summer Concert, matches and school trips. By now you should have a school calendar with the majority of the details for the various matches and events. We will keep you informed of events as the term progresses.
Year 5 Visit to the New Forest, Portsmouth Naval Dock-
yard, and Beaulieu Motor Museum The Prep 5 pupils will be away
from school for two days on an
extended field trip to the New
Forest and Portsmouth Harbour.
They are leaving on Thursday 21st
May and returning on Friday even-
ing. The pupils will visit the Beau-
lieu Motor Museum and the Ports-
mouth Naval dockyard with a spe-
cial tour of HMS Warrior and HMS Victory. They will also explore many other
aspects of the dockyard including the Royal Navy museum and ‘Action
Stations’ which is an exciting mixture of physical challenges, simulators and
technological experiments. All Year 5 parents should have received a letter
about this via pupil post and email. You will receive a clothing list and further
details after permission slips have been collected.
Extra Curricular Activities and Travel Hopefully your child has already joined some of the clubs available this term. There is a range of activities and the pupils can try some out, but after the first two weeks the pupils are expected to be committed to that club until the end of term. Should any activity be cancelled for any reason the children should remain at school for the supervised prep session rather than change their travel arrangements.
Reminder - Early Buses—Tuesday 13th May Please note that on Wednesday 13th May all buses will leave school at
4.30pm and there will be no after school activities or clubs on that day.
Please ensure the necessary arrangements have been made for your children
to be collected at the bus stops and from school.
Don’t forget
it’s a normal school
day for us on
Monday 4th May !

Parents’ Consultation Evening: Tuesday 19th May The Parents’ Consultation Evening is on Tuesday 19th May. You will receive
an appointment time in the post to see your child’s tutor. If you are unable
to make this time, please let Mrs Mogg know as soon as possible so that an
alternative appointment can be offered. Each appointment will be for ten
minutes and we ask that you keep within your allotted time. There will be
tea and coffee in the Langholme Hall for parents who need to wait between
appointments.
Fire Service in School
On Wednesday 6th May the Fire Service are coming into school
to speak to Year 2 and 5 pupils about fire safety in the home. The
children will be given literature to take home after their talk. In
previous years the children have been very interested in what the
firemen had to say and are given the opportunity to ask lots of
questions afterwards. In many cases, visits to schools from the
Fire Service have a lasting affect on the children and could poten-
tially save lives. We are most grateful to them for sparing the
time to come out and talk with our children.
Outdoor Education Week: 11th May-15th May The week commencing 11th May is our Outdoor Education Week. Each day,
groups of children will be going to the RHS Garden Rosemoor to take part
in workshops in their fantastic new educational centre, to explore the gar-
dens and learn about horticulture. They will spend the day at Rosemoor and
will return to school by 4pm The Pre-Prep will be going on Wednesday 13th,
Prep 3 on Thursday 14th, and Prep 4 on Friday 15th. The children will need to
wear their school tracksuits with shorts and T shirt underneath. They should
also bring a sun hat and wear sun cream if it is a hot, sunny day. Otherwise,
bring wellies and a waterproof coat. They will be provided with a school
packed lunch.
Prep 3 and 4 Play The ‘Fearsome Four’ would like to
invite you all to witness the retelling
of the story of the ‘Battle of Toad
Hall’ (and also events leading up to
it!) There will be two performances
on the 20th and 21st of May, begin-
ning at 6.30pm in the 150 building.
We would love for you to join us!
Yours Sincerely
Ratty, Moley, Badger and Mr Toad
(P.S. watch out for Stoats and Weasels on the way!)
