• 2nd Grade Teachers send home weekly newsletters with information on the upcoming week. Communication binder is sent home.

AM Drop Off Procedures

• 2nd Grade Drop off is along Rosemont Avenue entrance. Have students exit the car on the school side.

• Drop off no earlier than 7:25 AM. • Students will report to the lunchroom. They

remain in lunchroom until 7:45 AM. Bell rings and students report to their homeroom.

• Breakfast is served at this time.

Dismissal Procedures

• 2nd Grade Dismissal for car riders is in two areas: Rosemont Avenue and 3rd Street.

• Rosemont car pickup line forms on Rosemont Avenue. Pull all the way up to the last teacher who will be supervising car pick up.

• Students will load from the school side into the car. • Exit to stoplight on Highway 278.• 3rd Street car pickup forms in two lines on the far left two lanes

on 3rd Street after 2:00 PM. The lanes merge into one lane. • After merging you will drive diagonally to the right side of the

curb to pickup your student. Pull up as far as possible.• Exit to stop sign where staff member will direct traffic.

Dismissal Procedures Continued

• Students who walk report to two places: Rosemont/3rd Street walkers report outside of Mrs. Kane and Mrs. Evans’s classrooms. Students who cross Highway 278 report to Lunchroom with Mrs. Willingham, Coach Knop, Mrs. Canada, and Officer Waldrop.

• Students who ride vans home will report to lunchroom. When van arrives, students will be dismissed by teacher in charge.

Emergency Dismissal

• At beginning of school year, teachers will send home a form for emergency dismissals.

• Please take time and make sure this form is completed.

• We will follow the information you give us in the event school is cancelled early for emergencies.

Extended Morning and Extended Day

• Extended Morning is offered from 6:30 AM to 7:25 AM for $1.00 per day. Students pay as they enter. No registration fee required for Extended Morning.

• Extended Day is offered each afternoon from 2:55 – 5:30 PM. Students are given a snack and drink. Students will work on homework and assignments for 35 – 40 minutes. Students will play for remainder of time.

• Registration Fee for Extended Day is $35.00 for first student and $15.00 for second student.

• Extended Day is $8.00 per day or $40.00 per week. Second child is $7.00 per day or $35.00 per week. Balances must be paid in full at the end of each week.

• Registration information will be at Open House in August.

Lunchroom

• Breakfast is served each morning. Cost is $1.30.• Lunch is $2.10.• Lunch balances must be paid in full. • Parents may eat with students. Visitor lunch is $4.00. If outside

food is brought from a restaurant, place food in a plain container.

• Birthday treats may be brought but will be eaten in the classroom.

• PayPams.com is used by Cullman City Schools. Parents can register at the website and may have access to student purchases. Also, can set up reminders to replenish student accounts.

Library

• Students will have a library lesson one time every two weeks.

• Students may check out books for one week at a time. A book may be rechecked two times.

• Library is open from 7:45 AM to 2:55 PM.• Students are allowed to go to the library from

their class with teacher permission to check out books.

Dress Code Expectations

• Hair must be a natural human color.

• No clothing with drugs, alcohol, satanic, suggestive slogan, or offensive references.

• No holes in pants.

• No hats. Toboggans are fine on cold mornings. Remove in buildings.

Attendance

• Parents may excuse up to five absence occurrences for the school year.

• Excused absences include: sick, death in immediate family, inclement weather, legal quarantine (subpoena), emergency condition, prior permission, and In School Suspension.

• Tardy is arriving after 7:55 AM. After the fourth tardy of a grading period (twelve weeks) we begin a discipline procedure. Tardy count starts over every twelve weeks.

• After five parent notes are used, doctor’s or legal excuses needed to excuse the absence.

School Safety

• Addition of School Resource Officer.• Locking doors during the school day.• ALICE Training.• Reconfiguring the entrance to the school.

School Council

• New advisory board/committee that was created this school year.

• Purpose is to seek input from stakeholders to advise school leaders on school issues.

• Members are: Principal, two (2) parents with a business background, two (2) parents, two (2) teachers. We asked our SGA President to serve on the council.

• Nomination forms will be available at Open House.
