Road: Most border crossings to Greece are from Bulgaria, followed by the border crossings from Turkey. Visitors from neighboring countries constitute an important tourism segment in northern Greece. For example, in the administrative regions of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, Bulgarian tourists comprise 45.3% of all visitors.

The main means of arrival to Greece are by plane, cruise ship and road. International train services make up only a very small part of the overall arrivals to Greece and are not part of this study.
