SATURDAY, July 21, 2012 ‘THE WESTERN’

Once again it is pleasing to record and congratulate two umpires who have achieved milestones over the past couple of weeks, they being, Geoff Barker 400 games and Matt Trotter 50 games. Both have made a significant contribution to our Association – well done guys.

Best wishes to Tom Horsten on his Under 18 Championship Appointment at Geelong (NSW/ACT v Queensland) and his Sydney appointments in the Under 16 Australian Football Championships held during the school holidays. Hopefully Tom will provide us with a summary of his experiences for our next article in The Western.

During the past fortnight, significant plumbing work to our Clubrooms has been completed by Peter Graham Plumbing. This has been made possible through the work of Darren Jacobson who has arranged for the hand wash basin and associated parts through Reece Plumbing - Hamilton. The Southern Grampians Shire has funded roof maintenance so at last our flooding problems will disappear. Thanks to Peter and his boys for their excellent work.

The Association’s application for green shirt uniform funding was successful. This was made possible by the State Government’s Department of Planning and Community Development – Sporting Uniform Grants Program. A big thank you goes to the Victorian Government for supporting umpiring associations in funding young umpires’ development programs.

Sheepvention is just three weeks away. This is our major fund raiser for the year so a big effort is required by all members. The Sheepvention Roster is on the notice board in the clubrooms. Volunteers are needed to assist with our BBQ stall on the 5th, 6th and 7th August. Please place your name on the list to indicate your availability and times. All members are encouraged to assist as this fund raising venture is used, among other things, to subsidise our October 13th Presentation Dinner. It would be great if every member made some time available, even after work to assist our Association.

Here’s an example of how umpires can improve their performance by conducting an informal post-match review. It comes from part of an article by Steve Keating, a NEAFL Coach in Sydney.

“Firstly, the officiating umpires immediately after the game engage in an interactive discussion around learnings and any issues arising from the match. The umpiring team might ask itself some simple questions.

• Howwasourcommunicationtoday?

• Howwasourteamwork?

• Whatcanweimproveon?

• Whatdoweneedtostartdoing?

It is expected to be an honest and open discussion from a team perspective, and not so much about individual critiquing.

It can be lead by any of the goal/boundary/field umpires and not necessarily the most senior umpire.”

Have a think about this approach to self improvement. After match discussions do occur, perhaps in a jovial fashion, so maybe with a little more formality a quick review whilst the match is still fresh in our minds is a good way of doing a better job next week and continuing to enjoying umpiring.

Diary Dates for the next few weeks include:- 23rd July – Executive meeting, 5th, 6th and 7th August – Sheepvention, 22nd August – Junior Presentations, 23rd August – Lecture Night, 20th September – last training night and 13th October – Senior Dinner and Presentation Night.

On the trip to West last week we encounter some wet conditions and had to adjust our games accordingly. The 12 and under had a great team effort and the coach was thrilled about the way everyone tried new positions. Congratulations to the 13 and under team who had a hard fought a win. Our defense was strong and on a cold and wet game good passes made a difference. The 15 and under had a brilliant game, winning by 16 goals. It was a team effort and things are gelling beautifully. It was a disappointing game in the 17 and under. We need to go back to basics.C grade had a very hard game. After this loss we need to regroup and come to training fresh with some more drive to win. Silly mistakes in B grade occurred early in the game but the girls played it out to the end despite the score line.A reserve had their third loss in a row, with things just not going our way on the day. On a positive note it was great to give some of our junior players court time.

What a difference a week makes. In the course of seven days, players and supporters experienced a roller coaster ride of emotions, from the euphoria of the exciting win over Portland to the intense disappointment of losing to the previously winless West Gambier - Who knows what this week will bring? Awards Hamish Waldron (Vestas Leighton) Tim Meulendyks (Shepherds Hour Glass Jewelers) Cal Kanoniuk (Hamilton Furnishing) Adrian Linke (Southern Finance) Andrew Pepper (Noel’s Machinery) Matt Newell (Hamilton Gymnasium) As usual a trip to the ‘Mount’ in mid - winter, makes finding players to fill 20 places on the reserves team sheet very difficult. But once again a combination of youngsters and veterans did themselves proud and kept the margin to a handful of points. Awards Tim McCann (Vestas Leighton) Leigh Alexander (Kearns Insurance)David Glare (Fringe Benefits) Chris Quinn (O’Keefe Lawyers) Paul Cleaver (Shepherd’s Hour Glass Jewellers) Matt Wishart ( Hamilton Gymnasium) Although still not at their best, the U18s put in a solid performance to get back into ‘winning mode’ and prepare for some huge challenges in coming weeks. Special mention to Tim McCann, who was voted ‘Best On’ in both Under 18s and Reserves. Awards Tim McCann (Bulldog Towel) Sam Hasell (MEGT) Angus Noske (Matt Waters Plastering) James Anagnostou (Jon Manson Award) Roger Morris (John Waters Award)This Saturday we face a massive challenge in all three grades as we host North Gambier.

We were very pleased to take away 7 wins from 8 games last weekend against South at home. An undermanned 13’s side were the only team unlucky enough not to take away a win, losing by 8 goals. Former Millicent resident and Saints Netballer, Khao Watts will be playing for the Waikato/Bay of Plenty Magic’s team in this Sunday’s ANZ Championship Grand Final.A dominant spell of extra time propelled the Waikato/Bay of Plenty Magic to a 57-48 win over the Northern Mystics in the ANZ Championship netball preliminary final in Auckland on Monday. The result, clinched after the teams were all tied up at 44-all at the end of regulation time, booked the Magic a spot in Sunday’s grand final against the Vixens in Melbourne.Watts played a key role in the Magic’s win at WA where she created space in attack and passed with pin point accuracy to Irene van Dyk and Julianna Naoupu.

After being recruited from Woods Panthers in Adelaide, Watts has played in each of the Magic’s games this season. With many of her family and friends making the trip to Melbourne this weekend there will certainly be a crowd cheering on Watts as her side tries to win its first ANZ Championship.

NET SET GO AT MILLICENTThe Millicent Netball Club introduced the Net Set Go Programme 4 years ago and since then it has grown in numbers each year. We are very proud that many of our current junior netballers started with this program and continue to develop their skills and play at our club. The San Remo NetSetGO program incorporates skill activities, minor games and modified matches in a fun and safe environment. It is aimed at children aged 5 to 10 and accredited coaches run the program each Monday during Term 2.This year we had 48 girls participate at McLaughlin Park. We had 5 dedicated coaches in Paula Tunkin, Paula Wishart, Melinda Squire, Lucy Pretty and Donna Denton take the girls each Monday night. The young girls also got to participate in some matches on Saturday and Sunday mornings at McLaughlin Park while the Junior football was being played. The programme finished on Monday 26th June with a session in the St Anthony’s Gym and the girls were awarded a certificate for their participation.

Two of the club’s most impressive young talents – Emily Gazzard and Yazmin King – clocked up 100

games each on Saturday. Having played both juniors and seniors in the past couple of seasons, the

two teenagers have got to that mark a little quicker than most. Add to that Olivia Dukalskis recent

achievements, as we mentioned last, week and the future looks bright... Megan Lawler had her first

taste of A grade in a practice match on Tuesday night and did a great job as well. The 13 and under

team again were the sole success story on Saturday but hopefully this weekend will bring better

results (and better weather!!!). Don’t forget the PJ party tonight, the movie night on Thursday (Magic

Mike) and the official clubroom opening on August 4. See your coach for more details on any of those

events.

Last week’s visit to Vansittart Park left all three teams with a bad taste in their mouths, all suffering defeat at the hands of the SA Tigers. The U18’s were first under fire with North controlling the match all the way until South came back in the final term to bring the final margin back to 4 goals. The reserves copped the wind and rain making things hard for both sides. North were better able to adapt, running out victors by over 13 goals. The Seniors didn’t fare much better, trailing by 4 goals at the first break, reducing that to just 1 goal at the half. They kept it up to North for the rest of the game, however the bad weather conditions contributing to inaccurate kicking and a hard to handle ball led to South going down by two goals at the final siren. Goal kickers Brett Exelby with 3, Matthew Berkefeld with 2 and Brent Howard and Jon Copping with one each and Heath Sims, Jake Dowdy and Brett O’Neill being named best. This week we host Casterton. This is a must win game for us to get a clear hold back on the top five and set us up for our run towards the finals. GO DEMONS!

Considering the Antarctic conditions the high standard of play last weekend was a credit to both clubs. The 15Us match highlighted the endeavour and competitive nature of the two sides, with a great first half setting up the 35-29 win to our girls. Best Panashe / Tayla[ Spill the Beans] and Teagan [Faroes].Likewise the two 17u sides are very talented and always challenge each other. Spectators were treated to a top notch battle. Cats 37-31. Best Shanae[ Milly’s] Abbey and Marlee [Kelpie Kafe]. East are very strong in the 13u and our young side showed courage and resilience to cope with both the weather and well tuned opposition. Best: Amber[ Spill the Beans] Chelsea[ Jim Tant$5] and Tayler[ Jim Tant $5]. East took the honours across the senior grades and whilst all games highlighted our ability to play solid netball consistency was the missing ingredient. A: 50-66 Nat/ Madalene, opposition best. Glenelg Inn : Haylee/ Herberts: Molly. A Res: The closest clash of the day 47-51. Marlee[ Kristy’s Flowers] and Trictia. B Grade An entertaining match 37-55 Best: Emily/Laura.Casterton Pharmacy: Amy and $5 to Tash. C grades ability was demonstrated in the opening and third terms but East too strong over four 37-51. Best Liza[ Bloomers] Barb and Maya[[Herbert’s].Congratulations to Emma Pelham-Thorman 100 games and to McNamara Player of the Day: Teagan McIntosh.

Well football is a winter sport, but the conditions last week were extremely wet and cold with low visibility. Ball handling was difficult with wasn’t conducive to good football. The under n18 side started off slowly but adjusted to the conditions by half time and were much more competitive. Jacob Shannon, Zac Cleary and Daniel Wombwell were named among the better players. The wet conditions may have acted as a leveller to the Reserves side who battled on against a much more highly ranked and polished team. Once again coach Ricky Killey dominated the game and was ably assisted by Tim Enscoe, Pete Burgess kicked three goals for the game. Mark Cowland showed his versatility last week in the senior game moving forward and scoring. Mark is having a stellar season and plays well in both defence and forward in all weather conditions. Brandon Currie continued his good form as did Sam Penfold. Good Luck to all teams this week.

East keep proving week by week we are still a strong force across the competition. A grade finally

showed some real game play and put up their 2nd win for the season by a solid 16 goals. Very

proud of how everyone play, great work girls, let’s try do that again this week. A res had a close

one and managed to get over the line by 4 goals. Thanks Abby Loughhead for filling in. B Grade

stepped it up from last week and had a fabulous win along with the C grade who are continuing to

improve each week. A big thank you to all the juniors who sat on the bench or hit the court for the

senior teams on the weekend. 17’s and 15’s both had close disappointing loses by 6 goals, while

the 13’s dominated not even giving Casterton a chance to score. Hamilton today is always tough,

but let’s be disciplined and kick some butt!

- Bo Richards

Last Saturday delivered mixed results with 3 wins and a draw, the weather proving to be one of the biggest opponents. Our baby pies faced difficult conditions but all tried their best in a very low scoring game. 13s drew their game with the saints seeming to relish the conditions, fantastic defence and with a tall combination in attack created plenty of scoring opportunities. 15s had an off day in the attacking goal circle, the missed opportunities let us down. Our 17s had a great game, positive vibes right across the court helped us pull together this week walking away with a win. A really good effort from C grade considering bad weather with minimal fumbles and strong passes getting us across the line. Well done girls. Off to a great start in B, goalies shot well but defenders having a tough one with the opposition also having accurate shooting. Playing well as a team. A reserve had a strong first half being up by 12 at half time. Lost momentum in the second half but coming away with a 2 point win. A grade is always a tough game when against Millicent, but the pies had a great team effort, a well fort out game to go down by 15. Another tough week coming up against East. Good luck girls.

It was a very wet and cold day that greeted us last weekend, but a great day for the club. It started with

the thirds having a 20 goal win. Millicent were short on numbers, so they borrowed 4 of our players.

Thanks must go to the guys who played for Millicent, as it made a game. Tommy Lambevski kicked

7 goals in an even team effort.

The reserves almost pulled off their first win of the season, playing great desperate footy. They were

very unlucky not to get up but Cal was rapped with a great team effort.

The seniors, having kicked 2.5 to Millicent’s 5.4 up to 3 quarter time, got great reward for effort in the

last quarter, kicking 5.5 to nil to run out 17 points winners. The 2 Crawfords were judged best, but the

whole team contributed to a fantastic win.

Today we travel to East, in what will be a big test for all 3 grades. All the best, Go Pies

SATURDAY, July 21, 2012 ‘THE WESTERN’

This weekend signals the high point of 2012 Representative Football commitments within the WorkSafe VCFL. The WorkSafe VCFL is currently fielding two teams in the Landmark Australian Country Football Council (ACFC) Championships in Wagga Wagga, NSW.The VIC1 team is chosen from all available players within the WorkSafe VCFL who represented their league in the 2012 WorkSafe Country Championships, and the VIC2 team selects from teams ranked 11-32 in the same Championships. Both teams provide wonderful opportunities for all players to not only be selected and train with the players considered to be the best in their respective categories, but to also eventually team with them and compete against the best country footballers from the other states of Australia. In 2010, Isaac Smith (Redan – Ballarat FNL) was asked to join North Ballarat Roosters in the VFL following his performances in the ACFC Championships and the rest is history...as he is now a key member of the Hawthorn push for the 2012 premiership in the AFL.To all players, coaches and officials involved in these teams congratulations on your selection and involvement and all the very best in your pursuits, the VIC1 (WorkSafe) team is looking to defend the ACFC title from 2010, while the VIC2 (GrainCorp) team will be looking to improve on its standing in the country football community when it takes on NSW, WA, SA, QLD and VIC1.13 other players from various VCFL leagues on the NSW border have also been selected to play in the NSW squad at the Australian Country Football Carnival, taking a total of 63 players from the VCFL represented at the 2012 ACFC. To these players, we also wish you well at the Carnival. The format of the ACFC Carnival is a tough one with teams having played each other across Thursday & Friday in shortened half games, with the Sunday (July 22) finals determined by ladder positions following completion of the round robin format. It is a gruelling assignment in anyone’s language. To Peter Knights (VIC1) and John Cossar (VIC2) and their dedicated support staff and assistant coaches well done and good luck. Could we see a VIC1 v VIC2 final on Sunday July 22? – follow all the news on the VCFLfooty facebook page, @VCFLfooty twitter, www.vcfl.com.au or www.acfc.com.auLast weekend the best U19 players from the WorkSafe VCFL competed against the Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA) at Elsternwick Park in Melbourne.Across May and June, coach Damian Sexton and his selectors watched numerous club and WorkSafe Country Championship matches to form an initial squad of sixty players. The WorkSafe VCFL’s main principle in providing a representative opportunity for country players at this level is to encourage and recognise players who may have been experienced TAC U18 football previously and who have chosen to remain in their local region, providing another realistic pathway for talent to be identified in country Victoria. From this very match in 2010, Dan Nicholson (VAFA – Melbourne) and Arial Stenberg (Sunraysia – Essendon) were drafted, Nicholson having represented the Melbourne FC and AFL level, with Steinberg and work in progress in the VFL for Essendon FC.Both teams fought hard for the ascendency with neither team giving an inch in a tough and physical encounter, the VCFL team’s poise under pressure and skills were the main determining factors. In the end it was the VCFL victorious in blustery and heavy conditions by 50 points. The WorkSafe VCFL would like to thank EnergySafe for their support of the VCFL U19 team for without

their support development opportunities for our best U19/20 players would be reduced. There is no doubt that numerous AFL Club Recruiting Managers would have gone away from the match suitably impressed with the level of skill, persistence, tenacity and potential of many players in the WorkSafe VCFL.We must also congratulate all of our Representative Umpires who have been recognised for their excellence and drive via the V/Line Academy Program and through their performances in WorkSafe Country Championship matches. Well done to you all and may your dream be recognised via the WorkSafe VCFL V/Line Academy program pathway to the VFL/AFL.

LANDCAREVICTORIA

What is a catchment?

Geographically a catchment is an area of land that drains to a single low point such as

a gully, creek or river.A large catchment may be made up of a series of smaller sub-catchments and these are

made up of soil, water, air and vegetation. Together theses elements support life and

make up an ecosystem that within it has cycling of nutrients and other elements. Each

component is linked, so when one changes it has an effect on the other elements.

What is Integrated Catchment Management?

Integrated Catchment Management is a coordinated approach to the management of

natural resources. It is the integration of land, water, vegetation and other biological

resources for use in a sustainable, balanced way. ICM draws together all members of

the community to effectively manage the catchment in an integrated and holistic way.

ICM fosters joint action by all sectors of the community in an effort to co-ordinate the

problems and solutions within a catchment.Catchment Strategy – The Glenelg Hopkins CMA. Regional Catchment Strategy will be

built into a catchment management plan. The Murray-Darling Basin Initiative defines ICM as “a process through which people can

develop a vision, agree on shared values and behaviors, make informed decision and

act together to manage the natural resources of their catchment”.

This could be a commitment by the community and agencies of the catchment where

the overall aim could be that while addressing stream flows and stream health, to halt

the increase of salt and silt discharging from Fiery Creek and Salt Creeks and to reduce

overall salinity and silting in Lake Bolac. The adoption of the ICM approach is increasingly regarded as the most effective way

of dealing with environmental issues. ICM takes a ‘whole of systems’ approach and

avoids dealing with issues in isolation. It also recognizes the important role played by the

community in managing natural resources and advantages, such as increased mutual

understanding and effectiveness that results from a genuine partnership between

community and government.

SATURDAY, July 21, 2012 ‘THE WESTERN’

When North Gambier Under 12 coach, Nicola Allen was faced with huge numbers at pre-season training in February this year, she was faced with the dilemma of disappointing some enthusiastic young tigers. Nicola had over 18 young girls hopeful of playing netball with North Gambier – all of them with parents who had been supporting or playing for years. Thanks to the dedication & commitment of Nicola and a group of supportive parents, all of the girls now have the opportunity to train & play for the team they love.

The concept they developed was pick all those who tried out and with the support of their parents, run internal games prior to the official Under 12’s competition on a Saturday. While many of us are still having our breakfast – these keen families have an early start. The girls and their families arrive at the court at 9.15am to set-up and play at least 2 internal quarters against each other before the other clubs arrive to prepare for their game at 10.30am.All internal quarters played by the girls are counted as “real quarters” and recorded to ensure the game time is as fair as possible for all players. Girls are guaranteed at least 3 quarters every week (sometimes 4). Two other Western Border Clubs also have a large number of juniors at under 12 level and this has enabled the girls to have “internal” quarters against both South Gambier & Millicent when they’ve met.Another advantage for the North team is they have plenty of numbers to play practice matches against each other at trainings as well.Nicola has terrific support at both trainings and on Saturday’s with the assistance of her Manageress, Deb Wilson-Smith, parent Brooke Willoughby (who warms girls up, or takes them for cool-downs whilst other quarters are in progress) and volunteer umpiring from Under 17 & A Reserve player, Maddie Day.The Under 12 girls are obviously benefiting from the extra court time, with just 1 loss for the season and many smiling faces!!

Welcome back after having the bye last week. Our last game was against Imperials and a great day was had by all teams coming home with wins under their belts. C.Grade Lido Larder Ashlee Ferguson, Meal Award Georgina Frew. 17/under Bakers Delight Remy Grant, Canteen Hannah Bunney, 15/under Subway Emily Hernan, Bakers Delilght Laura Kelly, 13/under KFC Chloe Leighton, Canteen voucher Kate Malcolm 12/under Dominos Pizza Taylah Telfer, Spuds of Portland Eva Clark. I must make comment of our under 12 girls who were only able to field 6 players on the day and what a game they produce. All six should be very proud of how they played. Today we host West Gambier and there should be some great games to watch in the netball. Good luck to all teams yours in netball Rhonda Compton.

Two out of three was the return from the trip to Imperials. As always wins are not easy to come by at any level at this venue, so the emphatic U18’s win was a big boost for future prospects. Newcomer Jay Moody was supreme up forward with 9 goals in an impressive debut. Dylan Barr, Joel Mirtschin and Jordan Kane worked tirelessly around the ground, with others to feature prominently Harry Warren and Dean Jones in a very even team performance. The Reserves got back to winning ways in a game which had its absorbing moments. Those who figured prominently were Jake Patterson, Michael Carr, David Kennedy, Patrick Mahon, Shaun Trenorden( 5 goals ) and Leigh Wiseman. It is imperative to get on a winning streak if finals are to be a viable option. Despite kicking more goals than the opposition, the Seniors capitulated when Imperials dominated the last quarter to take the points by a slender margin. The Van Heugten bros. were superb down back, repelling opposing attacks and initiating many Tiger moves. Around the ground Denis O’Loughlin and Sam Fleming were also instrumental in launching Portland raids whilst Tim Chester and Bryce Koenig were committed in their respective tasks. We host West Gambier after a week off and 3 out of 3 has a nice ring to it.

Last week, in real winter conditions, we played host to the Imperials. With the A grade having the bye, we finished the day with 5 wins and 2 losses – one of those being by a goal. The day started with the U12 girls having a great little win. Awards went to Charlotte and Tay. Thanks to Janelle for coaching the girls while Beck was off cruising the seven seas !! The 13’s had a cracker of a game, with the timer going just as the equalising goal was being shot.. great work girls. Best were Georgia and Zoe. The 15’s had another tough battle, with Maddy T and Olivia getting the awards. 17’s had a good win, with Emily and Zoee judged the best. C Grade lost last time these two met, but on Saturday were 22 goal winners, with coach Dee leading the way, supported by Sophie. B Grade continued on their merry way with Sal and Jac best. A res also lost last time these two met, but they were able to turn the tables, with an 11 goal win. Melissa and Linda were judged best. Today we meet Portland, with some cracker games lined up. Hopefully Portland will turn on a nice day for us.... travel safe and good luck everyone.

Hello Everyone I trust your venture across the border was uneventful. How’d you go Gards. On a cold, wet and windy winters day last week the U18s were always going to find it tough against second placed Imperials. It turned out to be the case held goalless for three quarters but outscoring Imps in the last finishing up 74 Points behind. Best Players Doug Lloyd, Daniel Gardiner, Mitchell Laube, James Waugh, Leigh Collins, Daniel Jennings. Supercoach Simon Dawe took over the reigns in Becky’s absence to get the boys over the line by 7 points in the Reserves. Holding Imps goalless in the first half then let them snatch the lead with 5 goals in the third quarter some might have thought we were gone, but Patrick Daniels kicked the only goal of the last quarter to give us the win. Best Players Travis Lockwood, Patrick Daniels, Ben Deans in his 100th game, Matt Bukovskis, Alex Gill, Niall Easterbrook. You little beauty the Seniors finally got up by 9 points in an old fashioned wet weather slog. Imps kept us in it with wastefulness early but the boys stuck to the task with their head over it. Best Players Al Kennedy, Josh Ransom, Daron McElroy, Joe Feruson-Lane, Tyson Ploenges 4 Goals. Tails up today. GO THE ROOS. Socs

Teenagers Emily Gazzard and Yazmin King both clocked up 100 games for South Gambier Netball Club last Saturday. The duo play in the club’s 15 and under team, with Yazmin having been a part of the club’s A reserve line-up all season and Emily joining the ranks as well to cover injuries in the shooting circle. Yazmin also made her A grade debut in the club’s round 10 clash with Portland. She played wing defence alongside mother Lisa, who coaches the A grade line-up. Yazmin started in the under 12s in 2008, progressing to the 13 and under, in which she was the club runner-up best and fairest in 2010, She won the club 15 and under best and fairest last season and also debuted in senior ranks, playing five A reserve games. She has been captain of the South 15 and under team for the past two seasons. Emily debuted in 2006 and has also played her share of senior netball. She became a regular member of the B grade team last season, playing in their finals campaign as well, and played a hadnful of A reserve games this season. Emily was runner-up in last season’s 15 and under club best and fairest. Yazmin is an athletic circle defender, who also plays wing defence, while Emily is a talented goaler, who can also hold down a defensive post.

SUBMISSIONS FOR DONATELIFE WEEK 2013 COMMUNITY AWARENESS GRANTS

The Parliamentary Secretary for Health and Ageing Catherine King has today announced the next round of the Organ and Tissue Authority’s Community Awareness Grants to support community-based activities to promote organ and tissue donation during DonateLife Week 2013 (Sunday 24 February – Sunday 3 March 2013). DonateLife Week is the national awareness week to promote organ and tissue donation in Australia, led by the Organ and Tissue Authority.Proposed activities can have broad appeal across the general community or target a specific group(s). Among the Australian population, those least likely to have made a decision about becoming an organ and tissue donor and to have discussed organ and tissue donation with their family are young adults (18-29 years), males and older people (65+ years). People of culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds can also experience cultural, linguistic or religions barriers to decision-making and discussion about organ and tissue donation wishes. Applications are invited from non-government organisations and professional bodies, including community-based not for profit organisations or local government associations.
