WSSO For String Players in the Primary School (Years 1 – 6) Directors: Melissa Dineen Andrea Messenger Western Suburbs’ String Orchestra (comprising WSSO 1 and WSSO 2 / years 1-6) WSSO is for children who are in primary school and play violin, viola, cello or bass. The aim of WSSO is for primary school string players to gain experience and develop the important skills of ensemble playing in a friendly atmosphere with other young players. Concerts are held each term. Rehearsals are held every Saturday during school term (from 10am until 12 noon for the No. 1 orchestra, and from 8.30am until 10am for the No. 2 orchestra) at 57 Carwoola St, Bardon. Membership of the orchestra is by audition. Auditions for the year 2014 will be held on Sunday, 1st December, 2013 at 58 Qandong St, Ashgrove A fee of $100 per term is levied and is payable at the first rehearsal each term. The basic standards are as follows: WSSO 2 – Minimum 1 year learning, basic note reading essential.
