God calls people to believe in Jesus as their Savior, repent of sin in their life, make a confession of faith that Jesus is Lord and be joined to Christ and added to His church by being immersed (baptized) in His name. Having made this response of faith to God, all sin is forgiven and we receive the gift of God's Holy Spirit to live in us and to empower us to live for Jesus. All those who come to faith in Him may request immersion at any time. Salt and Light Project for January...January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month. Women are victims of this crime in Bakersfield. Christians from the community are ministering to these women though an outreach program called Magdalene Hope. Twice a month a van is driven to Union Avenue where volunteers pray for the women and distribute backpacks filled with personal items. Because of the huge generosity of the Westside family last year, almost 50 backpacks were packed and distributed. Once again we asking for your help by bringing any of the personal items needed. We will be collecting them through the month of January and

would greatly appreciate anything you can donate. Please leave your donations at the Salt and Light booth in the basket marked Magdalene Hope. If you have any questions, please contact Jeff or Cheryl Prude.
