What to Expect

Core ClassesEnglish - The basis of all learning is the ability to read, understand what you read, and be able to make choices using evidence from the text. All students will take the Standards of Learning test on this subject in the spring.

Math - The development of number sense is critical during the sixth grade, as students are expected to understand real numbers and apply order of operations. All students will take the Standards of Learning test on this subject in the spring.

History & Social Science - This subject will cover United States history to the year 1865. Students are expected to understand the “why, when, where, and how” of many historical concepts. All students will take benchmarks on this subject.

Science - Having the ability to apply scientific concepts, skills, and processes to everyday experiences will be the focus of this course. Hands-on experiments and more are critical in achieving science literacy. All students will take benchmarks on this subject.

What to Expect 1

Chromebook, Chromebook Charger- Tool to be used for collaboration and completion of assignments.

- Must be charged overnight; no charging during class time

- Sites will be monitored; use safe online procedures

- Chromebooks and chargers should be treated with care

- any color of shirt and pants/athletic pants- shorts and skirts of acceptable length- small logos- light outerwear- minimalist headgear

Not Allowed- shirts that do not cover entire

torso/shoulders- leggings or pants showing underwear- large logos or large messages- holes in pants- inappropriate messages on clothing- headgear covering entire head- sandals of any type
