You can get immediate access to real-time data such as waveform oscilloscopes and power meters to show you precisely what is happening on your system now. Events are plotted against power tolerance curves such as CBEMA or the newer ITIC curve. Unlike other software, Scenario provides you with plots of any chosen parameter from multiple monitoring sessions on one graph, for a comprehensive picture of your power system. Full disclosure technology is crucial to predictive maintenance. Starting with benchmark measurements of power conditions, you can then build a power quality index (PQI) and follow it over time to spot any deterioration. Scenario provides the tools to compare the PQI against any other parameter, allowing you to isolate problems and take decisive action. Flexible Communications The InSite Power Recorder comes standard with an Ethernet RJ45 port and can be configured for TCP/IP communications. You can connect to InSite monitors over Ethernet networks, intranets, or even the Internet. You can also connect to InSite monitors by dial-up phone lines using Reliable’s new, low-cost Ethernet Modem Router Model 2140. Up to 253 Power Recorders in a network can be connected on a single phone line, giving you access to 759 feeders (or voltage and current pairs). Using RPM’s communications software and any combination of RPM Power Recorders (portable or stationary), you can create a network of dial-up and direct connect monitor- ing locations for your monitoring system. Future Expandability The InSite recorder has two paths for future expansion and enhanced capabilities. The PRLink port is a high-speed communica- tions link that offers communications to other devices at speeds of 200 megabits per second. This port can be used, for example, to connect to a new analog/digital I/O module RPM has in development to allow monitoring of analog quantities with transducers that supply a 4-20 ma output, as well as digital on/off/I/O states from contact closure, breakers, or other switches. The PRLink port and the option port will accept other hardware options in development. Time Synchronization GPS time synchronization accuracy between multiple InSite Power Recorders is achieved by using NTP protocol through the Ethernet port, and ensures all InSite recorders on a network are in sync. Finding power disturbance events by severity or time is simple.The InSite Power Recorder automatically presents eventsagainst power tolerance curves that plot events by severity, orby a history summary showing time of occurrence. Manage Power Consumption and Energy CostsThe InSite Power Recorder measures watts, VA, VAR, andpower factor (true and displacement) on a cycle by cyclebasis. It provides summaries showing minimum, maximum, andaverage values for each phase as well as totals of all phases.Graphic reports can be pasted into a word processor, and thedata can be easily exported to spreadsheets. For energy use,any demand period from 5 minutes to one hour can be

selected for plotting demand profiles, with or without a slidingwindow. PC software displays real-time meter screens showingfundamental as well as true power quantities (i.e., includingharmonics) and accumulates kWh. A power cube plots active,reactive, and harmonic power to provide a quick visual displayof the extent of harmonic distortion.

The InSite Power Recorder offers the most advanced toolsto view any aspect of power in real-time. For example, youcan obtain oscilloscope traces of any voltage or currentchannel, plot an individual waveform, or all of them together.Add and subtract tools allow you to compare calculatedwaveforms with measured ones to identify ground loops orleakage currents. Monitoring connections can be verified

with a phasor diagram screen. You can even change anyconnection or current transformer polarity from the safetyof your PC using software buttons. Other screens displayharmonic spectra, flicker components, load and sourceimpedance. You can view any real-time screen at any time,even when the InSite Power Recorder is recording disturbanceevents and monitoring consumption.
