Twinkl.co.uk that kids can colour in and develop their fine motor skills and of course our much loved competitions.

favourite, a signed copy of the wonderful Caliente by Chris Hilton. So don’t forget to pop over to our website

Viva Forever!
Piccadilly Theatre, London
www.piccadillytheatre.org
Reviewed by Shelly Harper
On Tuesday 14 May 2013, my best
friend and I were lucky enough to see
Viva Forever! A new musical based on
the songs of The Spice Girls at
London’s Piccadilly Theatre. I think to say we were excited to
see the show would be an understatement, particularly as when
we were teenagers we loved listening to The Spice Girls and
secretly still do now with their list of catchy hits.
Written by Jennifer Saunders (French & Saunders and
Absolutely Fabulous), produced by Judy Cramer (Producer of
the worldwide sensation that is Mamma Mia!) and starring Bill
Ward (Charlie Stubbs, Coronation Street) and Lucy Montgomery
(The Armstrong & Miller Show and Absolutely Fabulous), Viva
Forever tells the story of a young girl, Viva, and her trials and
tribulations of getting the fame and fortune she desires via the
TV talent show ‘Starmaker.’
Viva initially auditions in ‘Starmaker’ along with her friends
Luce, Diamond and Holly as girl group but as they reach the
finals there is a twist and Viva, who is chasing her dream, is left
alone to face the daunting reality of life in the spotlight. Viva
Forever! Not only follows Viva into the world of being an
overnight celebrity but also shows the impact on her mum and
her best friends whilst showing what really goes on behind
closed doors on the set of ‘Starmaker.’ Maybe being famous
isn’t all it’s cracked up to be…
For us, we found the script to be fast, funny, touching and witty
whilst cleverly depicting what it’s like for a normal girl to be
living her dream via a reality TV show. Judy Cramer previously
called the show “a contemporary story that truly reflects our
time.” She totally hits the nail on the head with this statement
as young people now believe the only way to become a
celebrity is to appear on one of the many TV reality shows that
we so love to watch on a Saturday night.
This so called “Jukebox Musical” had us singing along and
dancing in our seats throughout whilst the cast belted out some
of The Spice Girls world famous tracks such as:
Wannabe, Too Much, Stop, Say You’ll Be There, Mama/
Goodbye, Who Do You Think You Are?, Spice Up Your Life, Viva
Forever & 2 Become 1
My favourite song had to be Mama/Goodbye as it was so
beautifully mixed together to portray exactly how Viva and her
mother were feeling at that exact moment in time. It was a truly
heart-rending moment.
Both my best friend and I were also particularly impressed with
how some of the original Spice Girls songs had been adapted to
fit in around particular scenes and scenarios. It put a whole new
spin on some of The Spice Girls songs without ruining the
classics.
If I had to describe Viva Forever! I would say its X Factor, meets
the Spice Girls, meets Absolutely Fabulous. I loved every part of
the show from start to finish and certainly would have no
hesitation in seeing it again.
Highly recommended - 5*
Rating: 5/5
Tickets cost from £20 to £95. For more information visit www.vivaforeverthemusical.com
Showing until 29 June 2013. To book your tickets for Viva Forever at the Piccadilly Theatre click here.

Featured Article What is epilepsy? Electrical activity is happening in our brain all the time. Epilepsy is a neurological condition and is the tendency to have recurrent seizures. There are around 40 different types of seizure and a person may have more than one type. Epilepsy can affect anyone, at any age and from any walk of life. In the UK, over 600,000 people have epilepsy; approximately one in every 103. Every day, 87 people are diagnosed with epilepsy. Only 52 per cent of people with epilepsy in the UK are seizure-free. It is estimated that 70 per cent could be seizure-free with the right treatment. Seizures explained A seizure happens when there is a sudden burst of intense electrical activity in the brain. This is often referred to as epileptic activity. This intense electrical activity causes a temporary disruption to the way the brain normally works, meaning that the brain’s messages become mixed up. The result is an epileptic seizure. What an individual experiences during a seizure will depend on where in the brain the epileptic activity begins and how widely and rapidly it spreads. For this reason, there are many types of seizure and each person will experience epilepsy in a way that is unique to them. In focal or partial seizures, the epileptic activity starts in just a part of the brain. A person may remain alert during this type of seizure or they may not be aware of what is happening. A person may have movements that they cannot control, or unusual sensations or feelings. Sometimes, onlookers may be unaware that a person is having a seizure. Focal seizures can be very brief or last for minutes. Sometimes, epileptic activity starts as a focal seizure, spreads to the rest of the brain and then becomes a generalised seizure. Generalised seizures involve epileptic activity in both hemispheres (halves) of the brain. A person will usually lose consciousness during this type of seizure, but sometimes it can be so brief that no-one notices. The muscles in the body may stiffen or jerk and the person may fall down.
One type of generalised seizure, tonic-clonic seizures, can follow this pattern. They may last a few minutes and the person may look a little blue around the mouth from irregular breathing. First aid for tonic-clonic seizures Remember ACTION for first aid for tonic-clonic seizures: A – Assess Assess the situation – are they in danger of injuring themselves? Remove any nearby objects that could cause injury C - Cushion Cushion their head (with a jumper, for example) to protect them from head injury T - Time Check the time – if the seizure lasts longer than five minutes you should call an ambulance I - Identity Look for a medical bracelet or ID card – it may give you information about the person’s seizures and what to do O - Over Once the seizure is over, put them on their side (in the recovery position). Stay with them and reassure them as they come round N - Never Never restrain the person, put something in their mouth or try to give them food or drink Call for an ambulance if: ~ You know it is the person’s first seizure, or ~ The seizure continues for more than five minutes, or ~ One tonic-clonic seizure follows another without the person regaining consciousness between seizures, or ~ The person is injured during the seizure, or ~ You believe the person needs urgent medical attention Epilepsy Action provides free wallet-sized first aid cards through its shop at: epilepsy.org.uk/actioncard Article kindly supplied by Epilepsy Action. Thank you. Visit Epilepsy Action at www.epilepsy.org.uk for more information and to see how you can help.

with Louisa Coffee Break Corner
Hello readers, my apologies for no Coffee Break Corner with Louisa! last month but I was quite poorly with Gallstones.
This month is Father’s Day so I will be giving you a few ideas on how to enjoy this special day and say a huge thank you to dad for being so fab! I hope you enjoy this months page and don't forget to get in touch if you have any money saving tips or jokes [email protected]
Book of the Month This month I was asked to review All The Beggars Riding by Lucy Caldwell and it is fantastic! It is an emotional book and may leave you a little teary eyed in places but the main charac-ter Lara is so determined not to let her past spoil her future.
RRP: £12.99 Available from Faber.co.uk & all good book stockists.
5 Ways to Say Thanks Dad
1. HOMEMADE CARDS - Nothing says thank you Dad more than a beautiful homemade card, shop bought cards nowadays can all be a
bit dull and usually end up in the recycling bin here but my husband loves it when the girls make him cards and he keeps every one. 2. SPOIL HIM - Dads love nothing more than relaxing on the sofa with their feet up or running around playing football so ask Dad what he wants to do this Fathers Day and enjoy some 'Dad Time' 3. PHOTO GIFT - If Dad is a bit of a Gadget Buff then get him a digital photo frame and add lot's of pictures of you and Dad to it, he will love it! 4. FULL TUMMY = HAPPY DAD - plan a special meal for Dad and sit down together and enjoy it 5. 3 WORDS 8 LETTERS - We may not say it often but tell Dad just how much you love him.
FUNNY THOUGHT 10 THINGS DAD WILL NEVER SAY
1. Well, how 'bout that?... I'm lost! Looks like we'll have to stop and ask for directions. 2. You know Pumpkin, now that you're thirteen, you'll be ready for unchaperoned car dates. Won't that be fun?
3. I noticed that all your friends have a certain "up yours" attitude… I like that. 4. Here's a credit card and the keys to my new car -- GO CRAZY. 5. What do you mean you wanna play football? Figure skating not good enough for you, son? 6. Your Mother and I are going away for the weekend... you might want to consider throwing a party. 7. Well, I don't know what's wrong with your car. Probably one of those doo-hickey thingies -- you know -- that makes it run or something. Just have it towed to a mechanic and pay whatever he asks. 8. No son of mine is going to live under this roof without an earring -- now quit your belly-aching, and let's go to the mall. 9. What you wanna go and get a job for? I make plenty of money for you to spend. 10. Father's Day? aahh -- don't worry about that -- it's no big deal.
Craft Time This month the girls will be in the kitchen helping me cook a delicious dinner for their dad and making homemade cards but I'm afraid I can't give you any clues as Dad might be reading...
