Love & Logic

• What is Love and Logic®?

• Love and Logic is a philosophy of raising and teaching children which allows adults to be happier, empowered, and more skilled in their interactions with children. Love allows children to grow through their mistakes. Logic allows children to live with the consequences of their choices. Love and Logic is a way of working with children that puts parents and teachers back in control, teaches children to be responsible, and prepares young people to live in the real world, with its many choices and consequences.

• When adults take care of themselves, they hand the problem back to the student who created it.

• When the student has to solve the problem, they have to think.

• When students have to think, they learn that decisions have consequences.

• When students have to deal with consequences, they learn to think. This is a process and students will improve their thinking as they mature and experience consequences.

• When we allow the student to deal with the consequences, they learn to think before they cause a problem.

• When the student learns to ask themselves, "How is my behavior going to affect me?" they have learned self control.

How does it work?

Points to Consider:

• The importance of the relationship between the student and teacher.

• If issues arise, the teacher and student will work it out.

• Parents will be notified if the issue requires their input, assistance or attention.

• Not everything warrants a note home or daily communication No news is good news!

Consequences

• Every child is treated as an individual. • Consequences are given accordingly

• Every situation will be treated as unique and the consequence for one may not be the same for another.

• We will expect the child to solve the problem, and if they can not or will not, we will solve the problem for them.
