PARCC - History

The Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) is a group of states working together to develop a set of assessments that measure whether students are on track to be successful in college and their careers.

Because the assessments are aligned with the new, more rigorous Common Core State Standards (CCSS), they ensure that every child is on a path to college and career readiness by measuring what students should know at each grade level.

What Are The Common Core State standards?

1. Governors and State Commissioners in Education from around the nation developed a series of academic standards in grades K-12.

2. The goal is to have our children leave school prepared to compete against their peers globally.

3. The standards provide a valuable framework around which we build our day-to-day teaching units. (High quality instruction.)

1. PARCC is one of two state consortia developing assessments aligned to the common core.

2. The assessments are designed to give teachers information to guide instruction and provide student support.

3. Beginning in grade three, to measure student progress in meeting the Common Core State Standards in English Language Arts and Mathematics.

Assessment Time

Unit Testing Time is the time we are required to schedule for administration of the test. Students may use all of this time, but the belief is most will not need it.

Estimated Time on Task is how long the test creators believe it will take most students to complete the test. (actual working time)
