What Is A Dickens Holiday?

It's a holiday event which draws more than 15,000 people to historic downtown Fayetteville. Turn back the clock to Victorian times and enjoy strolling carolers, gingerbread and cider, Victorian carriage rides, handmade crafts and Dickens characters on the street. At 5:30 p.m., everyone participates in the Candlelight Procession and Tree Lighting ceremony at the historic Market House as fireworks light up the night sky!! The event continues along the street until 9 p.m. and includes the addition of “Dickens after Dark” at the Arts Council.

When Is It? It's the biggest shopping day of the year- the day after Thanksgiving - Friday, November 24 from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. This is a rain-or-shine event.

What Are The Benefits? This is the 18th year of this event and you can expect exposure to thousands of people with holiday shopping on their minds, who love this quaint experience and would love to leave with unique gifts in their bags.

Dress In Victorian-Style Costume You're a Victorian street vendor! Long dresses or skirts, shawls, hats or bonnets for the ladies. For gentlemen, suspenders, derby, top hat, wool scarf, knickers, etc.

What Do You Provide?

You will need to provide your own tables and chairs, tablecloth or cover, electrical cords and tools, lighting, etc. Electric heaters are not allowed as the power on the street is not able to support heaters.

Booth must be presented in an attractive Victorian holiday theme (as in Dickens' A Christmas Carol).

Canopies are permitted (better yet, those which allow you to roll the sides up or down to protect you and your merchandise from the elements. Note: this applies to 10' x 10' canopies only). Don't forget to decorate it!

How Much Does It Cost?

10’ x 10’ Arts & Crafts Space - $60 $85 (with 120 electric)

10’ x 20’ Food Space (limited) - $750 (includes electric)

Approved vendors will be notified by mail or email.

Artists & Crafters Do you create original jewelry, glass art or stained glass? Do you take unique photographs? Do you create silhouettes or draw caricatures? Do you quilt, stitch or embroider on original handmade items? Do you create woodcrafts, pottery or paintings in any medium? You must create the items you wish to sell. Commercial or purchased merchandise is not accepted.

If your medium isn't listed, then call the Arts Council at (910) 323-1776 for approval on other work.

Send pictures or photocopies of all work you intend to present. All items must be ready for sale.

Unique Food Opportunity

• This year we will accept one food vendor to thisunique community event. This vendor will be located outside near the Arts Center. Successful applicant must be able to show how they intend to set-up and decorate their area in keeping with a pub theme of Victorian times.

• As Coke is a year-round sponsor, if vendor is sellingsoda, you must purchase Coke products from the Arts Council for resale.

• Vendor must display prices.

• Vendor using warming or cooking devices must meetcurrent fire codes and regulations.

• Food vendor must comply with all FDA and Health

Department regulations to include obtaining necessary permits. For more information, contact Environmental Health, (910) 433-3678.

• Health and Fire Departments will inspect food boothprior to opening.

• Generators are not permitted, but propane isallowable.

• The Arts Council reserves the right to provideexclusive vending privileges to festival sponsors.

General Dickens Holiday 2017 Application Checklist * This is a rain-or-shine festival. No early breakdown permitted.* All vendors must send at least one photograph of the booth setup and items for sale.* All vendors who include items for sale in their booths that were not presented in the original application will be asked to remove

them. If the vendor does not comply, the Arts Council reserves the right to close the vendor without refund.* Food vendors must comply with all FDA and Health Department regulations and permit requirements. For more information

contact Environmental Health Specialist (910-433-3678).* Vendors that desire to have their pictures returned, must include a self-addressed, stamped envelope with their applications.* All vendors will provide their own canopies, equipment, tables, chairs, two 100 ft. extension cords, lighting, etc.* Multiple booth spaces may be purchased.* All fees are nonrefundable.* Vendors will be notified by mail or e-mail of their acceptance to the festival. The Arts Council reserves the right to reject

applications & return booth fees.* Booth fee includes City of Fayetteville vendor permit. Food vendors must obtain permit from the Health Department.* It will be dark around 5 p.m. Vendors must provide their own lighting to be used until 9 p.m.* Victorian display and dress required for all vendors. All booths must reflect Victorian era.* Food vendor must display prices.* All vendors must provide their own security throughout the event.* Due to electrical power limitations, space heaters are not allowed.
