Beginning January 2015 ALL packages shipped through
UPS or Fedex are subject to dimensional (DIM) weight
Dimensional weight works by calculating the cubic size of a package by
multiplying its length, width, and height and then dividing that by 166 (DIM
factor). Once the dimensional weight is calculated, it is then compared to
the actual weight of the package, and the larger of the two is used to
determine the package’s actual billable weight.
Here’s an example of how DIM weight works...

UPS or Fedex would use a standard box size for your 11x4x11 product
packed with air pillows to protect your product from shifting/damage.
Or ship your 11x4x11 product in a bubble mailer wrapped tightly around your product
to protect from shifting/damage.
