McGregor has been working on good labour conditions for more than a decade. We used

to work with a code of conduct which all our suppliers were required to sign. But the fact

that there was no verification of their compliance was unsatisfactory. We decided to take

a more active role ourselves and involve FWF for independent verification.

In 2007, McGregor joined Fair Wear Foundation. Fair Wear Foundation keeps us on our toes,

by checking our progress as well as progress in the factories. Being able to use FWF’s local

audit teams is also of great value to us. In our two years of membership, we have made good

headway with the implementation of a system for monitoring and remediation. We now know

exactly what the conditions are in a substantial part of our factories and have started working

on improvements. I feel we still have a long way to go – this is rough terrain. But during the

audit at McGregor, our FWF contact told us we are actually doing really well.
