There were a total of seven voyages.

The first voyage began in the winter of 1405 with a fleet of more than 60 large vessels and 255 smaller ones. The crew

consisted of 27,800 men.

It returned in 1407 with pirate Chen Zuyi who was to be executed.

China regained control of the Straits of Malacca and sea routes in the Indian Ocean.
