The International Affairs Center (IAC) provides various supports to international researchersof Tohoku University. We offer services including necessary information to work for TohokuUniversity and general living information in Sendai.
■□■What we provide for you■□■1) Handbook for International Researchers:
It covers necessary information for international researchers.2) IAC Mail Magazine:
It introduces our supports, local events information, recommended souvenirs andgourmets and so on.
3) Living Information:General living information including Shopping Map and Lunch Map are available on theInformation Bulletin Board and Information Rack.
4) IAC Japanese Class:IAC holds a Japanese Class for international researchers and their families.
5) Arrival Support:Not only assist your arrival, but also various things required for setting up your new lifein Sendai will be supportable for international researchers of OAS.
6) Housing Support:It is available for international researchers of OAS who have just been appointed fromoverseas and would like to rent a private apartment.
7) Shopping Tour:We organize a local shopping tour within walking distance of Katahira Campus forinternational researchers and their families.
8) Rental Items:Rental items such as Microwave Oven, Electric pot, Vacuum, Electric bicycle and so on,are ready for you!
9) Give over & Receive:If you want to “give over” something for the daily use, please let us know. We will helpyou to find someone who want to receive it.
10) Mailing List:We distribute IAC Mail Magazine and Local Event Information through Mailing List. If youwould like to subscribe, please contact IAC!!

“Hanami” is a Japanese tradition of welcoming spring.People go to see beautiful cherry blossoms and enjoy having food ordrinks under cherry blossom. This is a peaceful moment for us to feelthe spring has been finally here after long and cold winter.Because of recent warm weather, cherry blossoms have gloomed quiteearly compare to last year, so you had better to visit to see cherryblossoms ASAP!
MIYAGI OGAWARA （大河原町）Thousands of cherry blossom trees are available aside of Shiroishi river.
This is just breathtaking landscape and would be one of the thing you must to do
if you live in Sendai! Do not miss the best season!!
Also, OGAWARA Cherry Blossom Festival has been opened until 19th (Thu).

Sendai Aoba Festival 2018In the beginning of summer is a season for “Aoba Festival” in Sendai.
This year, it will be the 34th festival and held on May 19-20. If you would like to
touch the history of Sendai, it is worth seeing!!
■Date: Yoi-Matsuri (evening festival): May 19, 2018 (Saturday)
Hon-Matsuri (main festival): May 20, 2018 (Sunday)

①Statistical physics, in particular stochastic processes and their application to fluctuations in systems out of equilibrium
②Augsburg, a medium town in southern Germany
③Mostly everything that has to do with computers: hardware, games, … But also: cooking and baking (and of course eating); board games; hiking, swimming and going to Onsen
④I came to Sendai from Kyoto, which of course has a very long history and many famous sights. But I think that Sendai is in many ways more typical for a modern Japanese city; it has a much more relaxed atmosphere and people seem more welcoming towards foreigners. Of Tohoku University, I so far mostly know the AIMR, which is a great working environment and I will surely enjoy working here.

①My undergraduate and PhD studies were mostly in mathematics, specifically operator algebras and non-commutative geometry. I’m now trying to apply some of these ideas to systems of interest in materials science and spintronics.
②Mannum, South Australia. It is a very small town and has a population of only ~3000 people!
③I enjoy reading, listening to music and hiking.
④Sendai city is large, but it does not feel so large and is very easy to get around on foot or by bicycle. I also like that the city has a lot of trees and green areas. Tohoku University is a nice University to work at and there are many people to interact with in mathematics
and physics.

①My Ph.D. research field mainly focus on the synthesis ofnovel π-conjugated polycycles. Now I will pursue the matter science with emphasis on superconducting and magnetic materials.

④I have studied and lived in Sendai for three years. Long history, beautiful four seasons various cultural events, delicious food and kind people, which all are my impression of Sendai.
