POLITICS
Politics is a study of intrapersonal and interpersonal
relationshipswithin a society. It has the potential to alter ones
actions and createharmony.
Politics in an intrapersonal relationship is manifested in
situations
wherein an individual sets rules for herself. When a person
imposes onherself that she should sleep early, her decision to
either stay true to such animposition or neglect it entirely is a
form of politics. The same thing goes fora person on a diet who
would resist the temptation of indulging on food evenif the
physical body already begs to differ. The given situations just
showthat ones power over oneself can either bring about a sense of
order withinif the imposition is fulfilled or give rise to a
consequence if the imposition isnot followed.
Politics in interpersonal relationships vary. It involves ones
power overanother, ones power over a group, a groups power over
one, and a groupspower over another.
Ones power over another is very much apparent within the basic
unitof the societythe family. A parent has the power to either be
coercive orauthoritative on her child. An example is when a parent
imposes a curfew. Itis just up to the child if she will abide by
the curfew or not. Another exampleis demonstrated during chitchats
between friends. The person who has theturn to speak or share
something has the power over the listener, since sheis of hold of
that persons attention. On the other hand, the listener makesuse of
her own power by deciding on whether she will accept or believe
thespeaker or not.
Ones power over a group is exemplified mostly on
relationshipswherein one is on a higher position, so to speak, than
the rest of the peoplein that group. This can be seen in
organizations wherein the leader instructswhat the members should
