What is the
National
Student
Survey?
Your opportunity to ‘Have Your Say’ and provide invaluable feedback to your
institution and future students that may wish to study the
same course.
What is the National Student Survey ?
Annual survey of final year* undergraduates
across the UK
Commissioned by the Higher Education Funding
Council for England on behalf of all the funding
bodies
Fully supported by the National Union of
Students
Conducted by Ipsos MORI
Quick and easy to complete.
* Some exceptions apply
What will the NSS ask me?
Widely recognised as a key measure of
satisfaction the survey looks at a range of areas
including:
The teaching on my course
Assessment & feedback
Academic support
Organisation & management
Learning resources
Personal development
Overall satisfaction
Students’ Union (Association or Guild).
The NSS results are made publicly available to
help prospective students make informed
decisions of where and what to study.
Institutions are provided with the anonymised
data to help them identify areas where they are
doing well, as well as areas for development, for
the purpose of improving the student learning
experience for future generations of students.
How are the results used?
Have your say!
As a result
of what
students
have said, we
have made
changes at
Worcester:
Examples include:
• Improvements to the Students’ Union building,
restaurant and coffee shops
• Feedback on assignments should now be
provided electronically and within 20 working
days
• Improved access to library resources (over
7,000 titles are now available as e-books)
• Increased study spaces (140 new spaces this
year) and plasma screens indicating number of
free spaces
• The student representation system (StARs)
has been strengthened, and StARs now have
more say in course developments
• A University-wide code of practice on
communicating class cancellations has been
established, with a texting system in place to
alert to students to last minute changes
