What kind of world do you want for your family in 2030? Whether it’s for our children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, or neighbors, we need to envision the future in terms of health, education, and access to opportunities for our own families, and families around the world. Imagine the world you want to see in 2030—what is important to your family, and what are you doing to make that vision a reality? The Global Moms Relay is a digital stage to share our hopes and goals for a better future, and inspire action to help improve the lives of mothers and children everywhere. The United Nations Foundation and Johnson & Johnson, with support from BabyCenter and The Huffington Post, created the Global Moms Relay to prove that small actions can lead to big changes and to put moms and dads at the forefront of the discussion on how to work alongside the UN and other organizations tackle the world’s most important challenges. Every time you share a Global Moms Relay post with a friend or through your social networks, Johnson & Johnson will donate $1 to one of four initiatives: the Mobile Alliance for Maternal Action (MAMA) which delivers vital health messages to new and expectant mothers; Shot@Life, a campaign to protect children worldwide by providing life-saving vaccines; Girl Up, which inspires teens to raise awareness and funds for UN programs that help girls around the world have a chance to go to school, see a doctor, and stay safe from violence; and a UNICEF project in Ethiopia that helps newborns survive by strengthening the skills of healthcare providers working in neonatal intensive care units (NICU). From May 1 to June 19, 2015 (just before Mother’s Day through Father’s Day), each day a celebrity, community leader, or everyday mom and dad, will share a personal story on the kind of future they want for their family and the world, and then “pass the baton” to the next contributor. You share, they give: each time you share one of these posts via social media, Johnson & Johnson will donate $1 (per action) up to $300,000 to help improve the health and wellbeing of moms and kids worldwide through MAMA, Shot@Life, Girl Up and UNICEF. You can also Donate A Photo through the app for iOS and Android, and Johnson & Johnson will give $1* when you upload a photo for Girl Up or UNICEF, up to $50,000 for each campaign. In total, you can help raise up to $400,000 with the click of your mouse or snap of your smartphone. HOW IT WORKS * Via the Donate A Photo app for iOS and Android. Johnson & Johnson has curated a list of trusted causes, and you can donate a photo to one cause, once a day. Each cause will appear in the app until it reaches its goal, or the donation period ends. If the goal isn’t reached, the cause will still get a minimum donation.

• For millions of mothers living in poverty, access to vital health information is a matter of life or death. Simple text messages can give mothers info to keep themselves and their babies healthy.

• Every 20 seconds a child dies from a vaccine-preventable disease.

• Premature birth, pneumonia and diarrhea are the leading causes of death for children worldwide, responsible for more than one-third of childhood deaths.

• Polio has recently reemerged in areas that had been polio-free for years and measles still kills an estimated 400 people each day—the majority of whom are young children. We can protect children from these diseases with vaccines.

• Medical complications from pregnancy and childbirth are a leading cause of death among girls ages 15-19 worldwide—the majority of these girls are married.

• Girls make up more than half of the 57 million children who are out of primary school.

• Ethiopia is among the countries with the highest number of annual newborn deaths: nearly 90,000 newborns died there in 2012.

While these facts are daunting, there is hope. By raising awareness and funds, we can together help improve the health of women and children around the world in support of the UN Secretary-General’s Every Woman Every Child initiative.
