How are these animals adapted to live in their habitats?

1. Camouflage – some of these animals blend in with their surroundings, for example

the tundra animals are white to camouflage with snow, and the desert fox and sand

lizard and beige to camouflage with sand.

2. Movement – some animals are adapted to help them move around their habitat, for

example seals and whales are streamlined and have flippers for swimming. Forest

animals are adapted to be good at climbing, or perching in, trees.

3. Temperature – some of the animals have adaptations to help keep them warm or

cool. Seals and whales have blubber, and Arctic hares have thick fur, to keep them

warm. The desert fox has thin fur and large ears to help it to lose heat and keep cool.

By storing fat in its hump, a camel avoids having insulating fat spread throughout its

body.
