What previous MARA scholars say...
Some think that the interview is just for formality’s sake. But it doesn’t mean that you’re allowed to slack during the interview. You still have to do your best; after all, you aren’t guaranteed a scholarship, yet.
About the interview

How is the interview done?
You’ll be interviewed by a panel of 2-1. So yes, it’s only you, and 2 MARA officers. Questions posed will be about MARA as well, so make sure you do enough research on MARA – what is the organization about, their objectives, their activities etc.

INTRODUCTION AND HISTORY
Introduction

It has become the duty of the Council to develop, encourage, facilitate as well to carry out economic and social development in the federation and in particular the rural areas.
MARA'S ESTABLISHMENT – A POEM
A noble name Born out of the frustrations and anger of a race, Backward in its socio-economy, Still with palms wide open, asking, like a beggar, In her own land that has achieved for almost a decade…Independence. Starting at the times of colonization, known then as RIDA – Rural Industrial Development Authourity … a veiled vision , the English way to ease the rakyat’s sharp criticisms regarding colonization
RIDA breathed its first breath in 1953 when sentiments in Nationalism was at its height, Unable to contend with the rising desire for freedom, The rising crucendo of voices from Bumiputeras, the obvious poverty and backwardness. The year was nineteen sixty five. The first Bumiputera Economic Congress was born… to gather the sadness and the sorrow the people felt. We still have the wells, so why are we holding on to the ropes when others are grabbing at the pails. So all the anger melted to become one voice, a promise, a trust and a vision
1966, the year RIDA was buried in history to give place to a name no less sacred Majlis Amanah Rakyat. 25 years has passed by. MARA has reached adulthood. Is it possible for yet another Bumiputera Economic Congress coordinating visions of 20000, what were and could have been, evaluating the effectiveness of their past anger and trust so duly engraved.
