In Reception you will have a construction area both in your classroom and outside area, just like Nursery. There might be lego,

wooden bricks, popoids and magnetic blocks.

In Reception you will have a reading area inside your classrooms, just like Nursery. Full of stories, information books, cosy cushions and

puppets.

Today’s challenge - Can you share your favourite story with your family today? You could have a go of making finger puppets of the different

characters to use when retelling the story.

In Reception you will have a malleable area inside your classroom, just like Nursery. You might have playdough, jelly, slime etc.

Today’s challenge - Have your own dough disco. Put on some music, get you playdough and squeeze it, roll it, pinch it and pat it to the music.

Here’s a recipe to make your own ‘no cook’ playdough; 2 cups of plain flour, ½ a cup of salt, 2 tablespoons of cream of tartar, 2 tablespoons of oil

(vegetable, baby or coconut oil), 1 to 1 ½ cups of boiling water and a few drops of food colouring. Just mix all the ingredients together to form a

dough.

In Reception you will have a writing area both inside your classroom and in the outside area, just like Nursery. The will be lots of chances for you to

show what you have been learning in your phonics lessons as there will be clipboards and whiteboards in the other areas of your classroom and

outside area too.

Today’s challenge - Can you draw a picture of your family and label who everybody is with their names?

In Reception you will have a maths area both inside you classroom and outside area, just like Nursery. You will learn all about numbers, shapes

and measuring things.

Today’s challenge - Can you measure how tall you and your family are?Who is the tallest and who is the shortest?

What are you going to use to measure your height?You could use a tape measure, hands, toy bricks or pieces of paper.

In Reception you will have a mud kitchen in your outside area, just like Nursery. You will be able to dig, make a mud pie and draw in the mud etc.

Today’s challenge - Can you make a mud pie and explain how you made it?

In Reception you will have a creative area inside your classroom and in the outside area too, just like Nursery.. Where you you will be able to

draw, paint, stick, cut and do junk modelling etc

Today’s challenge - Choose your favourite way to create, it could be painting, sticking, cutting or drawing etc and create your favourite place.

In Reception you will have a water area in the outside area, just like Nursery. You will be able to fill, pour and empty containers and see what

thing float and sink.

Today’s challenge - Fill a container with water and place different objects in the water. Which ones float and which ones

sink?
