My Meaning. Tattoos have been around for centuries. Each culture has its own rites of passage and many of them use tattoos in those ceremonies. Each tattoo is a symbol of something -- literal and other wise. More often than not those tattoos have a different meaning than you think. What DOES that tattoo of a pirate ship mean? That the person is a pirate? Maybe, but most likely not. Maybe its a way of show-ing a long journey of self discovery or maybe it’s metaphor for a person. Maybe the person just really likes the look of a well built pirate ship. You’ll never know what it means till you ask. And I did.
