TODAY’S PROGRAM...
Installation of 2018-19 Officers and Directors Kathie Wilder introduced Michigan District of Kiwanis Governor for 2018-19 Larry Memmer. Larry lives in Grass Lake and is a long time member of the Chelsea Club. He is looking forward to the coming year and hopes to visit our club often. We are grateful that he was here to install our officers and direc-tors for the 2018-19 administrative year. First he thanked outgoing Directors Deb Jones and Evan Leroy for their years of dedicated service. He wel-comed and installed new Directors Mary Stewart and Gordon Beeman (in absentia). He acknowledged and encouraged Continuing Directors Ellen Webb, Peter Schork, Mary Ann D’Angelo and Margaret Krasnoff. ‘Unsung hero’ Kathie Wilder was installed for another term as Secretary and Greg Meisner was in-stalled as Treasurer again. Alan Burg was recognized for his second stint as Past Presi-dent… and chief popcorn maker. After 65 years of Kiwanis affiliation, Dan Dever was in-stalled as President Elect. Last, but certainly not least, President William was installed for his own full term as President. Thanks to all those who have agreed to serve in these im-portant roles this year and thanks to District Governor Larry for honoring us by installing our officers and directors today.

GUESTS AT OUR CLUB…
Evan Leroy introduced Arno Buhrer, guest of Pat; Mamadook, guest of Harry Hawkins; Len Lofstrom, guest of Dick Benedek; Esther Hampton, guest of Pres. William; and Sky-lar Gleason, Melissa Zhou, and Jaylene Gutierez from Circle K.
HOSPITALITY…
Don Kossick reported that Sallie Springer is recovering from surgery and cannot lift any-thing for a while and that he expects Rip Kinney to resume attending our meetings soon. Donna Blomquist, wife of Jim, is recovering from back surgery and Bud Roberts is bat-tling shingles. Our good thoughts go out to each of them. Hospitality info for October should be sent to Dale Leslie.
ANNOUNCEMENTS…
President William thanked Kathy Barden Perlberg and all her helpers for a very successful Outreach Program this morning. Many businesses in our westside neigh-borhood sent representatives to hear about and see what we are doing. Special presentations were made by Lynne Lande, Emily Allshouse, President Elect Dan Dever and Ellen Webb. Thanks to everyone who participated. Michigan District of Kiwanis Governor Larry Memmer was in attendance and is now our newest volunteer. Look for Larry on Friday mornings.
President William announced that Martha Petroski is heading the Interclub Commit-tee. Martha said she was made to feel very welcome at the recent Whitmore Lake In-terclub. Western is hosting the next Interclub on October 23. Martha hopes each of us will attend at least one Interclub this year. She also wants us to be aware of House Bill 610 which appears to threaten federal funding for public education across the country.
President William is looking for a new chair for the Strategic Planning Committee af-ter the recent resignation of Past President John Goff .

FINES...
Past President Ann Mattson was fined because her husband Jim joined the club while she was President, but Esther Hampton, wife of President William (who was sponsored by Past President Ann) has not yet joined. All in good time! All members who did not assist with this morning’s Outreach Program for our Jackson Road busi-ness neighbors were fined, as were those who escaped the two prior fines.
HAPPY DOLLARS...
Dick Smit is happy to have avoided the shingles. He urged everyone to get vac-cinated.
John Sampselle invited everyone to meet and greet the head of the Haiti Nursing School at First Presbyterian Church Friday evening.

Larry Dittmar is extremely thankful for the generosity of Joe Sesi of Sesi Motors who has do-nated $40,000 for a van to be used to transport children in Ken-ya to their music lessons. Larry said that Joe’s daughter is an outstanding violinist who is now studying at the U of M.

Emily Allshouse is happy about the successful Outreach Pro-gram this morning, for all the weekday morning Thrift Sale volun-teers, and for the successful and fun Juvenile Diabetes Walk yester-day.
District Governor Larry Memmer said that Kiwanis signs post-ed at entry points around Chelsea will be updated soon thanks to the persistence of Dale Leslie.
