President’s CornerI’ve heard “time flies when you’re having fun”—well we must have had a bunch, because it’s inconceivable our 40th anniversary is upon us! As a book smart 26-year-old with a few years of construction experience, boundless energy, tenacity, and enthusiasm, and a strong self-confidence that really had no basis, we set forth on our journey. The past four decades have taken us far beyond what we could have even have imagined.

Every day has been an important learning experience and the pace of change seems to accelerate daily. New technologies, a myriad of project delivery systems, changing customer expectations, government mandates, everyone juggling a hectic family schedule and career goals...I’ll admit that many days I go home dizzy!

Yet what has guided me every day were the lectures I received from my father as a teenager, “Work hard, be honest, respect people, and keep your mouth shut!” Admittedly, I could have done much better with the keeping my mouth shut part, but integrity and respect have been the cornerstones of our company. Sometimes it’s the simplest of things that are the most important.

Thank you to everyone for your hard work, support, loyalty, stewardship, and patience…I think we’re ready for the next 40 years.

Exclusive Award Goes to AristeoAristeo is honored to receive the DTE Energy 2016 Exceptional Supplier of the Year Award for the construction of the Pinnebog Wind Park, located in Bad Axe, Michigan. This award, which is presented to only one supplier each year, recognizes excellence in categories such as quality, safety, scheduled cost, and diversity.

The Pinnebog Wind Park was completed on time, with zero recordables and zero first aid incidents. Our crews worked over 90,000 self perform manhours on the project, which consisted of 30 turbines spanning over 14,000 acres.

Congratulations to our Team on winning this prestigious award, and we look forward to working with DTE Energy in the future.

PythonX Added to Steel ShopAs part of our continual improvement process, our steel fabrication facility has added the PythonX Structural Fabrication System to our line of equipment. The PythonX is a CNC plasma cutting system that will improve quality and increase through put.

The PythonX utilizes a 400 AMP Hypertherm torch and robotic technology to process beams up to W 36 x 330 lbs. per foot in one operation. With the CNC data provided from our drawing models, the PythonX will cut copes, holes, and slots. It can miter and square cut, mark the steel piece with its identification mark, and provide layout positions for connections or stiffeners.

The PythonX has easily integrated into our work flow and provides us with endless opportunities with its processing capabilities. We are constantly looking to improve the technology we use, ensuring we meet demand in the most efficient way possible.

2017Safety Kick Off

At Aristeo, safety is one of our founding core values. Making sure everyone returns home to their families safe after a day worked remains a constant throughout our growth and diversification. In an effort to ensure “Everyone Goes Home,” we started the New Year with a 2017 Safety Kick Off meeting for our Estimating, Operations, and Field staff across all business units. Hosted by our management team and led by Chris Malloy, Director of Risk Management, this event took place at the Ford Conference and Event Center. Over 250 Aristeo employees gathered for a day filled with best practices, safety lessons learned, and keynote speaker, Chad Hymas.

The morning was spent reviewing past projects, keys to safety success, and lessons learned. Project Managers discussed important steps they took to make sure all risks onsite were mitigated and crews understood jobsite hazards. We recognized work completed on the General Motors VEC project in Warren, Michigan and the Bumper Paint Mezzanine Steel project with Toyota Motor Manufacturing in Georgetown, Kentucky, as well as highlighted the Pinnebog Wind Park project, for which we won the DTE Exceptional Supplier Award.

One of the main takeaways from the presentation was the importance of focus and how integral it is in creating a safe jobsite. “Don’t get distracted,” expressed Dave Nadeau, Field Safety Director. “We all do it every day—looking at our phones, letting our minds wander while performing a work task we’ve done a hundred times. It is in those moments we create opportunities (cont’d on next page)

At the event, the audience participated in an interactive trivia game. With questions about common recordables and Aristeo safety statistics, the quiz reminded our team of the hazards in their day to day work.

Congratulations to the top 5 winners of the safety trivia quiz:

1. Charles Smith 2. Kyle Reynolds 3. Dennis Russo 4. Brian West 5. Glenn Roberts

for safety lapses. If you take anything from today, it’s not to get distracted on the jobsite. It will lead to everyone going home.”

To end the day, nationally acclaimed speaker Chad Hymas shared his story with the crowd and discussed the importance of taking your time and not cutting corners when it comes to safety. Hymas, who was named one of the 10 most inspirational people in the world by The Wall Street Journal, was left a quadriplegic after an accident occurred while he was performing a routine task. “Just because you’ve been safe for 20-30 years doesn’t mean you’re immune” said Hymas. He emphasized that it only takes one act of unsafe behavior to impact not just your own life, but the lives of your family and coworkers. He also stressed the importance of working as a team and looking out for those around you. He reminded the audience that while we aren’t able to remove all hazards from a jobsite, we can manage the risks by working together.

The meeting was a great learning experience and teambuilding event for all involved. We would like to thank everyone who attended for taking the day to focus on the important role safety plays in their lives, their families lives, and the lives of their coworkers. Aristeo will continue to make sure “Everyone Goes Home,” and we look forward to our 2018 Safety Kick Off event.

Thank you to all who donated to the annual “Toys for Tots” toy drive. Your generosity made 2016 a very successful year. By work-ing with our employees, subcontractors, and the community, over $ 10,000 worth of new toys were collected and donated to those in need. In fact, we collected so many gifts, Toys for Tots volunteers had to bring a larger vehicle to transport the donations. Aristeo stuffed an entire truck with over 800 new toys, including 20 fully assembled bicycles.

For the third year running, Team Aristeo participated in the Kentucky Truck Plant Contractors Care Initiative, benefiting chil-dren at Louisville’s St. Joseph Children’s Home. Together Aristeo and Ford Land, with the help of subcontractors, contractors, and suppliers, raised over $3,000. These funds were used to purchase a variety of gifts and needed items for the St. Joseph’s game room.

Hey, Aristeo.. it’s AristeoWe receive several emails through our website, ranging from estimating inquiries to advertising opportunities. We were excited to receive the email below that stood out from the rest:

“Hello this is Aristeo. Yes, my name is Aristeo. And that just happens to be the name of your company. I’ve never met anyone with my name, so when I found your company I was amazed.”

We responded to the email and learned Aristeo is a bright teenager from New Mexico who is interested in math and science. We sent him plenty of Aristeo branded items to make sure he went to school in style. We will continue to stay in touch and keep everyone informed on Aristeo’s success.
