School Uniform

We are noticing some students are consistently coming to school wearing incorrect socks, jumpers/jackets,

hair ties, hair ribbons & bows and footwear. As well, sports shorts should only be worn on sports days

(Wednesday for Kinder and Years 1 to 4; Fridays for Year 5 & Year 6). We would really appreciate the

support of parents and carers in promoting the correct uniform. We have such a beautiful uniform and it

looks even more impressive when it is consistent. Jewellery should be limited to stud-gun studs or sleepers,

WOW! What a morning of Public Speaking! On Monday the best Public Speakers in Year 1 and Year 2 put

their skills to the test with an exciting array of speeches. The standard was amazing especially when one

considers the feeling of standing up on stage, with an audience and a microphone! We had some very proud

audience members!

YEAR 6 CANBERRA EXCURSION

We are wishing our Year 6 students and staff safe travels and a

fabulous week of fun learning for their excursion to Canberra next

week. All medication including panadol, travel sickness tablets etc.

(except for asthma puffers and epi-pens) is to be secured in a clip-

lock bag clearly labelled with your child’s name and dosage

instructions and should be handed to Miss Bourne if not done so

already. Asthma medication / epi-pens must be kept with the child.

Remember …

to be at school by 5:45am and get your name marked off.

Buses will leave at 6:30am sharp!

to go to the toilet before leaving home. The hall toilets will

be open for last minute emergencies

(if required) take your travel sickness medication before

leaving home Monday morning

to pack your woollies as Canberra’s weather forecast is for a

couple of very chilly mornings

onboard luggage to include morning tea and lunch (in

disposable packaging) for Monday

to leave ALL ELECTRONIC DEVICES at home

Expected arrival time back at Hastings next Friday is 6pm. Please DO NOT PHONE THE SCHOOL on Friday

to check their ETA. If we hear of any change to arrival time we will email families and post information on

the school’s Facebook page.

The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit their

National Capital as part of their civics and citizenship education. To assist parents in meeting the cost of

the excursion the Australian Government contributes funding of $30.00 per student under the Parliament

and Civics Education Rebate (PACER) program toward the travel expenses incurred. We would like to

thank the Australian Government for their support of this program. Activities undertaken as part of the

educational tour will include the National Capital Exhibition Centre, the Australian Institute of Sport,

Telstra Tower, Government House, High Court of Australia, ANZAC Parade, Museum of Australian

Democracy, Questacon, National Museum of Australia, Parliament House, Australian War Memorial,

Canberra Reptile Zoo and a day in the snow at Perisher. This contribution will be paid directly to the

school and was factored in when determining the final cost to students.

Thank you also to Miss Bourne, Mrs Starr, Mr Harris, Mr Morris and Mrs Paterson who are leaving their

families for the week, thus allowing this great experience to take place for Year 6!
