Youcan help to produce the costumes, scenery and props that will be used onstage in the final show. We are looking for chorus membersof all voice types and all levels ofexperience to be involved in anexciting and unique production of theopera Dido and Aeneas by Purcell.The opera will be translated intoScots Language and Gaelic by DrMichael Dempster and will breathenew life into this well-known opera.The course will culminate with aworld premier staged production atThe Harbour Arts Centre on theSaturday 11 August 2018. Rehearsalsand sessions will be held at TheHarbour Arts Centre from 5 - 11August with chorus rehearsals takingplace in the evenings and weekends.This is a unique opportunity to learnfrom professional musicians andsingers on vocal and dramaticinterpretation of opera. The tutor is Francis Gay from TheSunday Post who writes TheFriendship Book annually, is Wayfarerin the quarterly magazine Evergreen,wrote Dennis The Menace for TheBeano and has had a book publishedin Korean (which he can’t even read!).

On 15 August 1947 India declaredIndependence from British rule. At thetop of Delhi’s India Gate on this day,and on the battlements of Red Fortthe following day, was 22 year oldRAF wireless mechanic NevilleRamsay, from Irvine, clutching hiscamera. 70 years on and about toturn 92, Neville had never publishedthe photographs that he took at thisevent. On Tuesday 4 July 2017 hewas filmed by the BBC’s One Show

programme as he put thesephotographs on public display for thefirst time at Glasgow City Chambers.They remained on display there forsome time but have not been onshow again - until now!
