Worldwide Ecommerce Sales to Increase Nearly 20% in 2014

Business-to-consumer (B2C) ecommerce sales worldwide will reach $1.471 trillion in 2014, according to new figures from eMarketer, increasing nearly 20% over 2013. As internet usage continues to mature across the world, ecommerce growth will slow over time, settling around 10% by the end of our forecast period. However, with sales reaching $2.356 trillion in 2018, a 10% growth rate still represents more than $200 billion new dollars that year.

eMarketer’s definition for B2C ecommerce sales includes all products and services ordered or booked via the internet on any device, including leisure and unmanaged business travel.

I earn £100,000 a year selling bits and bobs on eBay1

Mother ditches her NHS job to make six-figure salary from online trading

• Cathy Hayes used to earn £28,000 as an NHS administrator• Now sells a variety of items on eBay and is a registered business seller • Makes over £100,000 a year and once made £5 profit on IKEA saucepan• Works from her dining room table and says household items are top sellers• Four years later, I’m easily turning over £100,000 a year • By March 2011, I’d turned over £100,000, around 25 per cent of which was profit — a figure that could have

been higher if I had managed my costs better in the first few months.• So that’s what I did — and in my second year of trading I made the same amount of profit from selling a lot

less. By then, John and I had learned from our mistakes.• Fast forward two years and I’m still here, with 350-400 product lines in my online shop. It’s a random selection

— everything from household goods and garden stuff to umbrellas and yoga mats — and it changes all the time. It has to, to stay ahead of the competition.

The couple who've made £8million on eBayhttp://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/the-couple-whove-made-8million-on-ebay-204342

FOUR years ago Matt and Amanda Clarkson were broke. He was a jobbing carpenter, she sold pies from a rusty white van. Amanda, 44, says: The eBay site definitely changed our lives.

The couple quit their jobs and began selling on eBay in February 2006 using a s400laptop bought with cash from Matt selling the tools of his old trade.

Matt says: Financially we had nothing. It was humble beginnings and with literally no outlay at all. But we went from broke to eBay millionaires in just 24months.

From a standing start, within eight months we were selling a minimum of £24,000 a month.

But amazingly they say they spend less than 10 hours a week managing the business, because each time an items sells, eBay automatically puts up a posting for a new one.

The World’s Top eBay Sellers

For this post I’ve pulled together a big list – a very big list – of the top 1,000 eBay sellers worldwide. If you want to get straight to the data, here’s a jump down to the full list. An extract of the top ten is right here.

Page 25: What’s it all about? ebay shopifyamazonfacebook The Business Your client will be investing in a franchise system and become part of the fastest growing

The Top 1000 Amazon Sellers

The sellers here are ranked by feedback. We’ve used feedback received in the past 12 months, so sellers of highly seasonal products shouldn’t be at an advantage.

Feedback isn’t a direct measure of success, of course, but it is an indicator of sales volume. Amazon says that most sellers receive feedback on 10% – 20% of their sales, so the number of units sold is likely to be 5x to 10x more than the feedback shown below.

The data is drawn from Amazon’s seller directories – there’s one for each product category and marketplace, including Amazon US, UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Canada, India, Japan and China. Note that media categories (books, DVDs, music etc) don’t have seller directories in all countries, so merchants who sell nothing but media might be missing.

So here it is: the full list. Use the “View More” link at the bottom to load one hundred more sellers each time you click.
