RELEASE NOTES V.2011

NEW FEATURES

Odyssey version 2011 includes several changes to the way in which Teachers will navigate within the manageras well as changes to the Reporting, Assessments, and Assignments features.

y The login page has been redesigned so that it does not require Adobe Flash.

y Binders are a new feature that enables teachers to organize and manage their student records.

y The Teacher Dashboard will provide clear and easy-to-access snapshot data.

y The Status Gadget will update daily to track student progress by providing details on lowest scores

grouped by assignment and track time on task.y Content sensitive tips will be provided via a Productivity Panel so that users may learn more about

Odyssey while in working in the manager.

y Our Help feature has been migrated to a third party application named Get Satisfaction. This will

provide a searchable robust knowledge center. This will replace the CL Campus feature and the

previous version of online Help.

y In the My Students view, teachers will be able to easily add, edit and manage student records.

Additionally, more than one teacher can own a class.

y The My Students Progress Panel enables teachers to track individual student progress, time on task,

completed tasks and attendance.

y The My Students Details Panel enables teachers to quickly view student information.

y Report directly from the My Students screen using inline reporting.

y The Reports Manager allows teachers to schedule and email reports. Additionally, teachers can

manage their reporting queue as well as create, edit, and save report templates.

y The Reports Manager also features default reporting templates allowing one click reporting for easier

and more efficient data management.

CURRICULUM ENHANCEMENTS

K-8 LA and MA / Common Core Enhancements

CompassLearning Odyssey is fully aligned to the Common Core standards to support educators in the 46 states

and territories that have adopted those standards. In addition, the following new activities have been added to

Middle School Science

CompassLearning® now offers a comprehensive suite of four science courses in its 2011 curriculum release.

CompassLearning Odyssey® Middle School Science is designed to spark students interest in science and

prepare them for in-depth high school science coursework. Lessons are presented in an engaging, game-like

format, with multiple opportunities for students to practice what theyve learned and is equipped with a

custom dictionary specifically created for this course. Nature of Science

Adding Students to Classes/Binders in Compass

Adding Students to Classes:

My Students/My School/Students -- Actions (Add to Class/Binder)

Student Binders: Teachers can create a group of students they want to report on by creating a binder fromthe My...pages. Individual students, groups of students, and/or classes can be placed in a binder. Instead of having to drill

down through the users on the Students tab of the reports, the binder can be chosen to report on.

Headsprout Important Reminder!

Entering Benchmark Scores Required

Miscellaneous Reminders� Send names of 6th/7th graders to me to place in your Beyond Books classes

� SpEd students data saved in SI and Headsprout (SpEd teachers responsible for

Headsprout).

� K-1 Students automatically enrolled in Headsprout. Other grades will need to be

given placement tests. Give returning students placement test for best re-entry

point. All students will need to be given Home Access through teacher accounts

(Manage Class Roster).

� 3rd Graders will have Writing Portfolios this year and will be following the school

essay schedule. Their essays will not be in Skillwriter and will need to be hand

scored using the Writing A-Z rubrics.

� All teachers will be required to pull students into their Study Island classes this

year. Refresher training soon.

� We are using shorter LP tests in Compass again this year, from 2007.

� RAZ-Kids - You need to manage your own rosters. Same two teachers sharing

accounts again.

� Check all programs for students and let me know if you find errors.
