An (Access) Web app is….

• A fully functional database application– Tables– Queries– Forms– Reports– Macros (recall Macros in 2010 were improved)– (not modules, no VBA)

(I wish they would have called it a Web database)

Page 12: What’s New in Access 2013 by Lisa Friedrichsen Johnson County Community College, Overland Park KS lisalfri@jccc.edu New Perspectives: Portfolio Projects

An (Access) Web app requires….

• SharePoint Server 2013• SQL Server 2012 • Configure Access Services

SharePoint 2013 – Access Services

Page 13: What’s New in Access 2013 by Lisa Friedrichsen Johnson County Community College, Overland Park KS lisalfri@jccc.edu New Perspectives: Portfolio Projects

(Access) Web app progression…

• Access 2007, 2010 had the ability to share tables, forms through SharePoint, .accdb

• Access 2013 web app file = .accdw

(uses SQL Server 2012 for tables)– Complete Web-deployable database /

application– Hybrid databases still have .accdb extension

• “desktop” vs. “web” icons in database file
