December 2017 News Letter

May the joy and peace of Christmas be with you all through the year! Wishing you a season of blessings from heaven above! Jesus, the reason of the season!

Happy Christmas!

“What’s Your Story” YFC recently screened the Heartlines movie, “Beyond the

River” with follow-up training for Pastors, Leaders, Youth

leaders and NGO’s in East London and Mdantsane with

Edgar Ramsammy from Heartlines, now the National

Director of Youth For Christ Southern Africa. The impact

of this movie and the motivation from Edgar to get

people sharing their story has had a profound influence

on the Youth Pastors of the City who have decided to use

this theme at next year’s Easter Camp.

Edgar has accepted the challenge of being the camp

speaker at Easter Camp 2018. If you have not watched

this amazing South African produced movie, please try to

get to see it as soon as you can. It’s an amazing TRUE

story that will help you to understand people from other

cultures.

South Africa has been called the rainbow nation because of our different cultures and languages. But the

reality is that there are still many divisions and misunderstandings in our nation. The need to get to know

and understand and trust each other is as great as it was in 1994. This camp will get young people thinking

about and discussing these issues. There is something powerful in listening to other people’s stories and

sharing our own. Our goal is to create trust and understanding in today’s society. Please pray for Easter

Camp 2018 and Edgar as he leads us to a deeper understanding of God and one another.

Easter Camp 2018 The theme at next year’s Easter Camp is “What’s your

story”. I am attaching a camp application form so that

any children aged 13 – 18 in your household can apply

to attend next year’s camp. There is an early bird discount so don’t delay in getting those camp forms in.

This discount falls away on 28 February 2018. The closing date is 15 March 2018.

YOU CAN INVEST IN THIS CAMP: We are looking to our friends to help cover the cost

of T-Shirts to the camp so that we can give every young person a keep-sake from

camp. The shirts cost R100 each and our expectation is that 200 kids will attend camp.

Should the Lord lead you to assist, please contact me (Roy) on 082 820 1575 or write

to me at [email protected].

Schools Ministry

Here is a letter we received from one of the students at ST John’s School where Mark Raphael has been teaching the students:

“Firstly, thank you sir for telling us about Jesus and God, even though you did not get paid to do this. We really appreciate your witness. You gave us hope that some people never gave us at all. It was wonderful having you in our school. I’ve learned that God is always with me even when things are not looking good at all for me. You helped us to know that in the Bible there are promises made for every single person on earth. I found my promise in Isaiah 54. Thank you sir, may God bless you the way he blessed us with you.”

We believe that a good, holistic education is vital to enable young people to become valuable members of their community. It equips young people to achieve their full potential whilst at the same time enabling them to contribute positively to society.

Schools in East London have the invaluable role of supporting the Spiritual and Moral Development of their students. Each month, YFC works with hundreds of young people of all backgrounds.

Our key workers in these schools are Dumasani, Nolubabalo and Mark who are impacting young lives for Jesus in the schools every week.

Cambridge West YFC Club

YFC is passionate about helping young people reach their full potential, in every area of their lives.

With over 40 years of experience in East London, YFC has developed a strong reputation for delivering excellent, professional programs and for making young people feel valued. Young people are keen for us to keep this ministry going and keep coming back week after week.

We believe it important for young people to have safe environments to explore deeper issues in life without judgement. Christ is always the centre of focus at these club meetings.

Our programs engage students while challenging them to think deeply about their lives and to make positive decisions for their future.

YFC always takes great care to be a responsible and a safe presence that Parents and young people can trust and depend on time and again for positive role models and professional programs that make a difference.

YFC’s Club ministry combines healthy relationships with creative programs to help young people make good choices, establish a solid foundation for life, and positively impact their peers. Like every ministry of YFC, Club ministry seeks to engage these young people wherever they are found as lifelong followers of Jesus Christ.

Earlier this year a young lad, Jason, started coming to YFC club and recently made a commitment to Christ.

His friends cannot believe the change they have witnessed in his life. He was an extremely naughty fellow

but is now looking at making it his life’s goal to influence other young people for Jesus. We are astounded

by his growth and the change we have witnessed. Thank you Jesus!

From Roy’s Desk:

Who We Are?

YFC reaches young people everywhere, working together with the local church and other like-minded partners to raise up lifelong followers of Jesus who lead by their

godliness in lifestyle, devotion to the Word of God and prayer, passion for sharing the love of Christ, and commitment to social involvement.

Mark 10:45 “The Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” At Youth For Christ, we wholeheartedly embrace Mark 10:45. Jesus came to serve and to deliver the message of transformation. He came to embrace and to liberate. We look to Him as we carry out His call to act, with an eternal perspective.

Our Passion

At Youth For Christ, our passion is to minister in the name of Jesus. We choose to walk the very same

bridge He used, combining Christian service with Christ’s sacrifice.

We are liberated by His forgiveness and propelled by His love, to continually declare mercy and truth. We are ministers of His grace, in Schools colleges and YFC clubs… to the outcasts, the transparent, the bullied and the terrified.

Our focus as a movement is on multiplying fruitful and sustainable Ministries across the Communities of the greater Buffalo City area and beyond.

Join With Us

At YFC, it’s our aim to grow our ministry to un-churched young people - to those in desperate need of the

restorative love of Christ.

YFC always takes great care to be a responsible and safe presence that young people can trust and depend on time and time again. We bring life to their story!

We Need You

There are thousands of young people in East London who have never heard or encountered the joy of new

life in Jesus.

The people YFC ministers to cannot sustain the ministry. (Students) This is why we need you to help us make a greater impact. Your prayers and financial support helps give them opportunities to discover and explore God’s amazing love.

Will you partner with us? Please contact me, Roy, on 082 820 1575 or email me on [email protected] or complete the attached debit order, making your gift count for this ministry.

May we take this opportunity to wish you and your loved ones a very blessed Christmas and a prosperous 2018.

Yours in Jesus service,

Centre Director
