As I write this, it is officially Autumn. I

think I can actually feel it in the air, too!

I hope you and yours enjoy the upcom-ing fall weather and the traditional fall

activities. There are a lot of holidays justaround the bend that, while fun to deco-

rate and prepare for, can make life just a

little too busy. It is important to choosecertain activities to be a part of and

which to let go, so that life doesnt get

too crazy.

One of the really important ones (and a

big fundraiser for our OSC ScholarshipFund) is the Holiday Marketplace. It isone of those functions that takes all

hands on deck to pull it off and make it

as fun and successful as possible. It real-

ly IS fun, too, if youve never been in-volved in one. There are all kinds of

jobs and we need every OSC member to

pitch in, in order to have a super"wonderful Holiday Marketplace!! Hope

PRESIDENTS PEN %

The OSC has had an exciting few months as we have started this board year. Thank you to everyone who was able

to come out to our first official social at the base park. It was wonderful getting to reconnect with members and see

many new faces.

As a reminder, membership needs to be renewed each year.

We will have a table available ateach of our socials to allow members to update or start their membership. I have even had people drop off their

membership application and payments to my house at 1216 Bass Drive.

There are many families that are still arriving on the base. It seems like every day there is a different moving truck

on our street. I hope that you are starting to feel settled and finding friendly faces around you. The OSC is here for

you as you transition to this base as well as military life. The OSC is available to all spouses of officers, regardless

of squadron, building, or rank. This group is the one place that you can come and get to know the amazing spouses

who support this base in a relaxed atmosphere.

The Holiday Marketplace, one of our largest fundraisers, is just around the corner. This artisan show is an amaz-

ing event, where I personally do all of my Christmas shopping. I love finding pieces of Enid, Oklahoma to share

with my family back home in North Carolina. The vendors are amazing and give you a true glimpse into this

states talent and beauty.

Our two co"chairs, Kerri Bergendahl and Jodie Everhart, have outdone themselves in

preparing a spectacular event for us. The proceeds from this event go towards funding our scholarship program in

May. Spouses and students connected with Vance have the opportunity to be awarded scholarships for furthering

their educations. We raise almost half of our scholarship funds through the support of the Holiday Market-

place. Please mark your calendars for November 8, 2014 at the Chisholm Trail Expo Center. If you are interested

in hosting a booth, it is not too late and we would love to have as many of our talented spouses showcased as possi-

ble.

Our Lushes with Brushes painting social was a huge success. This was our first joint social between the OSC

and the ESG and we had 36 people in attendance. Lisa did such an amazing job teaching and we had some spectac-

ular designs created. Our next social will be on October 14, 2014 at the Vance Bowling Alley. We hope to con-

Holiday MarketplaceKerri Bergendahl: Kerri calls Londonderry, NH her hometown, and is

married to husband, Bobby, who is a Reservist (C"5s at Westover ARB in MA) in pilot training.

She has her Masters in Social Work, and is currently a therapist with Youth & Family Services at

Waller Middle School. No kids or pets yet, but Kerri loves running and traveling.

HMP Co"ChairmanJodie Everhart: Jodie is from Ocean Springs, MS and is marr ied to hus-

band, Shane, who is a student pilot. She is an AutoCAD Drafter and they have three dogs: Laguna,

Freckles, and Razz. Her goal for this OSC year is to help make the Holiday Marketplace a fun and

successful event!

Silent Auction ChairmanJennifer Walker: Jennifer is from Tracy, CA. Her husband Luke

is currently a 2nd Lt. in pilot training. She has her Bachelors degree in Child & Adolescent Devel-

opment, and is presently a nanny for three children ranging in age from 1 to 8. She loves crafty pro-

jects, most recently involving the nursery of their baby daughter, Adalynn, born on September 10th.

They also have two fur"babies: a 10"month old puppy, Padme, and a cat named Ninja. Her goal for

the 2014"2015 OSC year is to be able to plan an awesome Silent Auction that everyone will enjoy!

Publicity/ReservationsDevon Parmenter: Devon is originally from Corvallis, OR and is mar -

ried to 2nd Lt. Benjamin. They have a son, James, who is 2. She majored in Political Science at the

other OSU (Oregon State University), and her goal this year is to streamline the Publicity and Reser-

vations process, combining what was previously two positions into one office.
