The Capital Region Land Conservancy (CRLC) is dedicated solely to serving landowners in the City of Richmond and Charles City, Chesterfield, Goochland, Hanover, Henrico, New Kent, and Powhatan counties. Our mission is to conserve

and protect the natural and historic land and water resources of Virginia’s Capital Region for the benefit of current and future generations.

CRLC has helped protect more than 10,000 acres that includes fee simple ownership of 380 acres as well as easements on more than 2,200 acres. Our easements include over 43 miles of stream and river frontage. Our diverse programs work to preserve open space and historic resources, provide capital to working farms and forests, and protect our region’s air and water quality. Our efforts have also produced more than 1,200 acres of parks and publicly accessible land. Yet land conservation, specifically easements, require the voluntary act of the landowner and must conform to the local comprehensive plan.

To achieve our goal of 5% of our region’s land permanently protected, CRLC collaborates with state and national agencies, local government, and many other

conservation organizations to preserve lands in the most efficient and cost-effective ways possible. However, CRLC depends on private gifts, personal and corporate, to lay the foundation with potential landowners. Your business can be one of our partners and will be recognized for helping CRLC “Protect the Places and Land You Love.”

CRLC works to keep a way of life and supports Virginia’s top 3 industries – Agriculture, Tourism, Forestry - through the preservation of working farms and forests as well as the

protection of natural areas in our region that help improve air and water quality.

CRLC is non profit, tax exempt charitable organization under Section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code. Donations are tax-deductible as allowable by law.
