WHY BELGRADE?
Belgrade has a long history in quality theatre. Training for actors there is consistently top-notch. Belgrade has attracted theatre innovators, from renowned director Peter Brook (who praised Serb actors in his memoir) to New York’s LaMama ETC at the height of its innovations, Grotowski, Bergman and many others.
OUR MISSION
OUR VISION
Our mission is to create an international community of theatre artists training in Michael Chekhov Acting Technique, a nurturing approach that frees an actor’s talent.
Our theatre artists, teachers, students, and participants alike, from around the world, will come together in a city that fosters artistic expression, allowing them to find support in every corner of the globe, as they stretch themselves as artists and awaken their own creative forces.
WHY MICHAEL CHEKHOV?
Chekhov Technique releases the actor’s creative self, in a kind and supportive way. It deepens the inner life of actors, while increasing the capacity to express it. The Russian master Konstantine Stanislavsky called Chekhov his brightest student and gave Chekhov his own studio within the Moscow Art Theatre. Chekhov then developed his technique, helping actors find the entirety of their work and the form of their art, through ease and beauty. The work builds ensemble too, so artists never have to take this journey alone.
