In the same Task force in page 20 says, and I quote On December 31, 1976,

President Ford rejected the Ad Hoc Groups recommendations following a review by

his Cabinet, stating that he believed that Statehood was a more appropriate step for

Puerto Rico. Accordingly, he announced a new commission to examine the issuesand implications of Puerto Rico achieving Statehood. He recommended that

Congress enact legislation toward that end, but no action was taken.

With this on mind we the people of Puerto Rico come to you to ask respectfully to

take action and Admit Puerto Rico as the 51st State of the United States of

America. Also, you may want to check the H.C.R No 57 introduced by the Ohio

Representant Mr. Dan Ramos also helping the cause of Puerto Rico becoming the

51st state of the United States of America.

President Barack Obama received several letters from Mr. Pedro Pierluisi ,Mr. Luis

Fortuo (actual Puerto Rican Governor) supporting the Puerto Rican statehood and

Mr. Alejandro Garcia Padilla (Elected Governor of Puerto Rico beginning in January)

in his letter claims that the plebiscite did not have a clear result because of a blank

ballot, this statement is wrong and violated the Puerto Rican Democracy, because in

our election system the blank vote or the blank ballots do not count, clarify that it is

clear without any doubt that we the people of Puerto Rico vote for the Statehood.

We always have been proud of our US citizenship and we have been part of the

United States of American for more than 114 years , now in this historic event we

the people of Puerto Rico decide it is time to be part of the America forever. We

respectfully ask that the congress of the United States of America admit Puerto Rico

as the 51st state of the United States of America

    Sincerely,

    The People of Puerto Rico
