WHO AM ..? My name is Mrs. Stevens. I grew up in a small farming community

outside of Grande Prairie called Teepee Creek.

As a child on our farm we had chickens, pigs and horses.

I grew up in a family that was involved in 4-H, rodeo and played all school sports.

Have I always been a teacher?

I have not always been a teacher. I used to be a florist. I worked in Grower Direct here in Grande Prairie for many years.

My next job was in a school…

I was a Educational Assistant working with children one on one and in small groups. It was during this job that I decided I wanted to be a teacher.

I went to went to GPRC. I was in the TEN program. I have a bachelor of education.

After Graduation….. I moved to a small community called

Driftpile First Nations. Here I was a grade one and two

teacher. It was a very interesting place to live.

I learned many new things.

MY NEXT JOB WAS THE LAST TWO YEARS AT ST ANDREW’S SCHOOL IN HIGH PRAIRIE.

AT THIS SCHOOL I TAUGHT ART, SCIENCE 14 AND RELIGION GRADE TEN AND ELEVEN.
