Eunjung JeeI have been studying heterodox economics as well as sociology since I was in undergrad. Especially Marx caught my eye and had me focused on historical materialism and labor theory of value. My masters thesis was about the value and price of information goods - software - and it was my first attempt to explain the economic phenomena on marxian basis. This topic is still my first research interest, but now I am trying to expand to technical changes and labor process.

I used to teach Marxs Capital at Korean University Workers Union for a year and worked as a TA for marxist economics courses. But, in Korea, TAs role was limited to grading and dealing with students claims on grades. In the first semester at UMass Amherst, I was a TA for Introduction to Microeconomics. And there, the professor Coram used Friedmans Micro textbook which was very impressive. I found that the textbook was well written and stimulating with depth. The book was perfect for those who have just started studying economics. Reading this book led me to be a TA for Econ103 again.

Brian CallaciI'm from Providence, Rhode Island. Before coming to UMass I worked for 8 years in the labor movement on union campaigns organizing workers in the industrial laundry, grocery store, airport services, and casino gaming industries, primarily in Phoenix, New York City, and Los Angeles. I decided to go to grad school while lobbying the UK Parliament in 2012 on behalf of the United Food and Commercial Workers regarding the then-current financial reform legislation, and realizing my economics needed more polishing. While a full-time student and TA, I still work part time on the ongoing fast food workers "fight for $15" campaign.

Lacey Mower

I was born, raised, and attended college in Salt Lake City, Utah. I have a BS in Economics and a Business Minor from the University of Utah. I am currently a first year PhD student and chose to attend UMass because of the department's strong heterodox approach to economics. My research interests include labor economics, the economics of poverty, inequality, and social welfare systems in the United States, and also Marxian economics in relation to the aforementioned topics as well as to capitalist crises. When I'm not busy studying, I enjoy playing with my puppy Milo.My office hours are as follows:
