Welcome to Saint John’s
W e are blessed that you have joined us in our worship of Jesus Christ.
At Saint John’s we worship in the Anglican Tradition; fostering a
place where forgiveness, conversion and spiritual renewal can evolve;
enabling Christian formation to help us grow that our life may be
consecrated to God’s work. We pray that you have found us faithful in our
witness of His Love and you will make Saint John’s your spiritual home.
Receiving Holy Communion
All visitors who have been baptized with water, in the name of the Father,
Son, and Holy Spirit, and who have been admitted to Communion in their
own church are welcome to share the Holy Eucharist. We are all called to
repent of our sins and to approach the Holy Communion as an expression
of the Real Presence of Jesus Christ. When you come forward to receive
the Holy Body and the Precious Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ, please
approach the Altar Rail in prayer. Cross your right hand over your left that
the sacred Host may be laid in the palm of your right hand. When the
Chalice is offered, help guide it (if necessary) to your lips. When your
communion is complete, pause to give thanks before returning to your seat.
If you are not receiving Communion today, you are most welcome to come
to the Altar Rail for a blessing; simply cross your arms over your heart.
Ladies wearing lipstick, please remember to blot your lips before coming forward
for Communion if you desire to receive directly from the chalice. (If you generally
receive by intinction, of course, this is not necessary.) Thank you! — St. John’s

If you receive Holy Communion by Intinction
If you make your communion by intinction (which is dipping the Host in
Consecrated Wine), our Bishop asks that you retain the Host in the palm of
your hand after receiving it, and the priest, deacon or lay minister will
touch it to the Wine and place it on your tongue.
A Private Prayer before receiving Holy Communion
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the living God, by the will of the Father and the
work of the Holy Spirit Your death brought life to the world. By Your
Holy Body and Blood free me from all my sins and from every evil. Keep
me faithful to Your teaching, and never let me be parted from You. Amen.
A Private Prayer after receiving Holy Communion
Lord Jesus Christ, may I receive these precious gifts in purity of heart.
May Your Body and Blood bring me healing and strength, now and for
ever. Amen.

St. Gabriel’s Conference, Jan. 31-Feb. 3 St. Gabriel’s Conference is an immersive community of formation in the Anglican tradition of the Catholic faith for adults ages 20 and up held at Camp Crucis in Granbury, Thursday, Jan. 31 through Sunday, Feb. 3. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday will be occupied with praying the Daily Offices, Solemn High Mass, classes, devotions, group discussions, fun, food, fellowship, and more. It is arranged so that a typical attendee will only need to take Friday off from work. The all-inclusive cost is $199. Go to stgabrielsw.org to register.
High Altar Flower Memorials Available The following memorial dates are available:
High Altar ($75 suggested donation): Feb 10; June 2, 9, & 30; Aug 4 & 11; Sept 1, 15, 22 & 29
Additional dates are available for the Lady Chapel ($25), Sanctuary Candle ($10), and De Profundis ($10) Memorials, as well. Please note that unless a permanent memorial has been set up, last year’s dates may not automatically be available again this year. Please contact Christy during office hours to check availability.
St. John’s Hosts Bishop’s Ball Youth Event, Feb 2 The Bishop’s Ball will be at St. John’s from 6-9pm this Saturday, February 2nd. It is open to 6th-12th graders and sponsors. The theme this year is “Blast from the Past”, a decades theme. The dress is casual to semi-formal. You may dress in theme as well. Dinner will be served at 6pm, followed by evening prayer and dancing! The cost to attend is $7 For more information, please contact Fr. Estes.

1st Quarter Schedule Up The Jan-March schedule is up. A hard copy can be found hanging on the bulletin board in the kitchen. The best way to keep up with your serving dates is to make sure your email and cell numbers are up to date on your Ministry Scheduler Pro account. You can access your account by going to rotundasoftware.com/ministry/anglicanfw. We encourage all who can to download the Ministry Scheduler Pro app, as well. The schedule can also be found on our church website, stjohnsfortworth.com, under “Q SCHEDULE” and “LINKS—Forms and Schedules”. If you do not have access to the internet, please contact the office to have a copy of the schedule mailed to you. Thank you to everyone who serves!
Wednesday Potluck The Wednesday Evening Family Potluck is back in session. After dinner, children will have an hour in the Atrium, while adults discuss The Great Divorce, by C.S. Lewis. Teens are welcome to join in the book discussion or have study hall together in the Guild Parlor. Programming ends promptly at 7:30. Nursery available. ALL are welcome to attend!
Clergy Retreat Fr. Klein and Fr. Estes will be out of the office January 28-31 to attend a Clergy Retreat. The 9:30am Bible study and 11:00am mass are canceled for Wednesday, January 30. Potluck and book study will continue as scheduled.
Dorothy Shaw Bell Choir The Dorothy Shaw Bell Choir will give a concert at St. John’s on February 3, 2019, at 3:00 PM. Our own Mallorie, Kirah, and Annaliese Merritt are members of the bell choir and will be performing in the concert. All are invited to attend!
Adult Confirmation and Inquirers’ Class 2019 The Adult Confirmation and Inquirers’ class will begin next Sun, Feb 3, in the Green Room at 10:20. See the green insert for more information or contact Fr. Estes.

Visitor’s Card Help us get to know you! Please fill out a Visitor’s Card and place it in the Offering Plate.
Hospitality “Coffee Hour” is held every Sunday morning from 10:15-11:00 in the Parish Hall. Stop by after the 9:00 service or before the 11:15 for the fellowship. Visitors are especially welcome!
Nursery Nursery for infants through age 5 is located at the east end of the Education wing. Ask an usher for directions. The nursery is open from 8:50 -12:30.
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd and
Teen & Adult Catechesis
Proper catechesis for kids preschool thru senior high is held Sept-May following the 9:00 am mass. Adult classes are offered at the same time in the Guild Parlor.

Counseling Office Fr. Bob Bosworth, Ph.D. is on staff as Clinical Pastoral Counselor for
individual, marriage, and family counseling. Hours are Tues and Fri 10am-5pm and Sat 10am-2pm. Appointment required. Call 859-475-4475 or visit: Dr-Bosworth.com
Low-Gluten Hosts St. John’s offers low-gluten (less than 0.01%) communion wafers on request. If you have a gluten intolerance issue please speak with one of the clergy.
Joining St. John’s? Just fill out the New Member Registration Form found on the wall rack in the Narthex or in the Office. If you are Anglican or Episcopalian we will process a letter of transfer for you. If you are from another denomination, you will be registered as a baptized communicant and we’ll let you know when the next Inquirers Class begins. If you are not yet baptized, please see Fr. Klein for more information.

Teen Confirmation Class The Teen Confirmation Class will be held in Guild Parlor from 10:15-11:10 on the following dates: Feb. 3, Mar. 3, Apr. 7. Confirmation will take place on May 5. See Fr. Klein for questions.
Annual Meeting/Potluck Breakfast TODAY! Our Annual Parish Meeting and Potluck Breakfast is today, Sunday, Jan. 27, between the 9:00 and 11:15 services. In keeping with our custom, the nominations committee will present a single slate of candidates to welcome to service on the vestry. Those candidates are: Erik Leaseburg, Luis Medina, Donnie Muennink, and Sarah Stringer. We would also like to thank our outgoing vestry members for all their hard work and dedicated service: Cameron Crum, Olga Fry, Gerald Gregory, and Jorge Lopez-Aguado. This is a wonderful opportunity to fellowship with your fellow parishioners while hearing from our vestry of what took place in 2018, and the goals for 2019. Bring your breakfast casserole or side dish to share, and show your support for the vestry of St. John’s!

If you are interested in buying one, see Dorothy Gregory after service, or stop by the office during the week. Please make checks out to St. John’s with “Cookbook” in the memo. If paying with cash, please have exact change.
