It seems man will never learn that he is the sinner and he has sinned against God. As a result of being such a sinner, man is in a position to respond and comply. Also, man is without authority to pronounce himself “right.”

“19: To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. 20: Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God” (2 Cor. 5).

“24: Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift” (Matt. 5).

“15: Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother” (Matt. 18).

“18: For not he that commendeth himself is approved, but whom the Lord commendeth” (2 Cor. 10).

“I am saved, but I have not submitted to baptism for remission of sins!” (Mark 16: 16, Acts 2: 38).

“I know my church is not in the Bible, but I am heaven bound!” (Matt. 16: 18. 19, Eph. 4: 4).

“I should not speak as I do, but my heart is good!” (Eph. 4: 29).

“ I do not regularly attend, but I feel that I am doing right!” (Acts 2: 42, cp. I Tim. 5: 8).

“The fact that I do not teach others and stand for truth does not call into question my spiritual faithfulness!” (Phili. 2: 16, Jude 3).

God’s word is our spiritual looking glass in which we see ourselves (Jas. 1: 23, 24, 2 Cor. 3: 8). Hence, we should determine our spiritual status. However, it is the “Lord who commendeth.”
