Will only members of the church of Christ be saved?

• Actual question:

– “Do you believe I’m lost because I’m a member of another church?”

• Best response:

– Ask, “How were you saved?”

– If the response is, “I prayed the sinners prayer.”

– Show them the examples of conversion in Acts.

Will only members of the church of Christ be saved?

• “Do you believe that I’m lost because I’m a member of another church?”

– If not baptized into Christ (Gal 3:26-27).

– If not added by Christ to His body (Acts 2:47).

– No other religious organization will save.

• Jesus offended people (Matt 15:7-9; Matt 15:11-14)

Will only members of the church of Christ be saved?

• “Is there only one way to heaven?” God’s way

– Noah: “Build an ark”

– Israel: “Cross the sea”

– Today:

• One Who Adds (Acts 2:41-42); One body (Eph 4:4); One church (Col 1:18); One Savior (Eph 5:23); One kingdom (Col 1:13-14); One Builder (Matt 16:18-19); One beginning (Acts 2).

Turning the tables…

• “Is everyone going to heaven?”

– Scripture denies universalism (John 8:24; Acts 4:12; Matt 7:21; 1 Cor 6:9-11; Matt 25).

Turning the tables…

• “Is there forgiveness of sins apart from Christ’s blood?”

– His blood provides redemption & justification (Heb 9:11-14; Rom 5:9-10; Eph 1:7).

– His blood was the purchase price of the church, the body of the saved (Acts 20:28).

Turning the tables…

• “Can we ignore God’s will and be saved?”

– Salvation follows baptism (Acts 2:36-38).

– Baptism unites one with Christ’s death & resurrection (Rom 6:3-6).

– Baptism put one into the body of those who will be saved, the church (1 Cor 12:13; Acts 18:8).

Turning the tables…

• “Can we be saved outside of Christ?”

– Baptism puts one into Christ (Gal 3:27).

– Water has always played a role in God’s plan to save man (1 Pet 3:21; Gen 6; 2 Kgs 5).

– The gospel of Jesus Christ must be obeyed to be effective for salvation (2 Thess 1:8; Heb 5:9).

• “Will only the members of the church of Christ be saved?”

– In Heaven will be children, patriarchs, faithful Jews, faithful members of the Lord’s church.

• There is only ONE WAY to heaven - God’s.

– The simple plan in Acts 2 where the Lord’s church began.
