Roland Zimmerman was born in New York City of February 25, 1967 toDiane Zimmerman (Freeman) and Roland Trottman. He was the eldest oftwo boys.

During his youth his family moved to Newark, New Jersey and attendedthe Newark Public School system. He worked as the Supervisor of DiningServices at Montclair State University until became ill.

Ronald married Cynthia Reed on May 19, 2001 and the two became onecreating a beautiful blended family, which he loved dearly.

Also, in 2001, Roland joined the Mt. Olivet Baptist church, where heserved as a caretaker and briefly sung on the male chorus.

He was a very caring and understanding father whom stilled values, suchas the importance of commitment, gratitude, and respect into his children.He always stressed the value of education and family. Furthermore, he wasan excellent cook and everyone loved his banana pudding! He was alwayscalm, cool and collected with a beautiful big smile!

Roland is predeceased by his mother, Diane Freeman.

Roland departed this life on Friday, June, 8, 2018 at his home in Newark,New Jersey.

He will be remembered by his loving wife, Cynthia Reed-Zimmerman; hiscaring children, Darren Foster, Anthony Battle-Reed, Alissah Battle-Reed,Cordelia-Reed, Mecca Prescott, Sharabia Wilson, Kanisha Anderson,Angelina Reed-Zimmerman, Ashton Reed-Zimmerman, Wayne Reed-Zimmerman, and daughter-in-law, Quantel Battle-Reed; his caringgrandchildren, Kayla Foster, Delilah Battle-Reed, Maxwell Battle-Reed,Josiah Battle-Reed, and Shiloh Battle-Reed; his caring brother, JasonZimmerman; sister-in-law, Jocelyn; his caring godchildren, MarkitaRichardson, Takiyah Madison, Clifford, Clifford Toddle, Christian Toddle,and Trinity Toddle; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and nephews.
