I would benefit greatly from having the rare opportunity to undertake work experience at aprestigious law firm, as it would help me to see the workings of various types of law in practice, which is important to me. Secondly, allowing me to have work experience at TLT would help meto discover which type of law I would like to pursue after University, which is still a hard decisionfor me, as I have not seen law practiced in great detail yet. Lastly, spending a week at TLT wouldhelp me focus my UCAS application on the universities and courses that would most help meachieve success in law in the long term. Furthermore, a work placement at your law firm wouldmake me stand out from the other candidates applying for the same courses as me, and willimprove my chances to get into a good university.

I am keen on reading Law at university as it has been a passion of mine for some time as I havedeveloped an interest in the rules that govern our country and the international community. I havediscovered this through my Government and Politics A-Level studies. I am a detailed person andlike evidence to support an argument, and think that a career in law would suit not only myinterests but also my personality. Furthermore, I enjoy problem solving as a leisure pursuit [I cansolve a Rubik's cube in under two minutes], and as law involves aspects of problem solving, lawintrigues me.

In my GCSEs, I obtained I have attained 1 A*, 2 A's, 8 B's and 1 C and at the moment I amcurrently studying Psychology, Sociology, Government and Politics and Business Studies at A'

Level at Simon Balle School in Hertford, which is a comprehensive school. Also, I havecompleted each section of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award at Bronze Level through mymembership of the Hertford Explorer Scouts Unit. At the moment, I am in the final stages ofsubmitting my evidence for the award and should receive the award in the near future. In myspare time I enjoy playing tennis, reading and socialising.

I have been interested in law for some time, and I had a one week work placement in February2011 with Hertfordshire Constabulary. I took part in a variety of activities around the Police forcesuch as shadowing the Community Liaison Officer, which involved visiting an elderly woman whohad recently been the victim of a home invasion; this allowed me to understand how Law is usedby the Police in everyday life. I also shadowed the Criminal Investigation Department of a localpolice station and sat in on a police interview with a criminal. I subsequently was invited to go tothe court hearing of this man, to follow the case through to the end. In this experience I have

been shown the complex range of services provided by the Police and how Law is used tosafeguard the community. From this, I have learnt about the working environment of a largeorganisation, and how important people skills are in dealing with community issues effectively. Inthis work placement I spent a day at St. Albans Crown Court observing several court cases, which was a major factor in my continued interest in law.
