ANU WHS Policy

• The University Council, University Executive, College Deans and Directors, and Directors of Service Divisions must exercise due diligence to ensure that ANU complies with its primary duty of care.

• In this context due diligence includes taking reasonable steps to:

• acquire and keep up to date knowledge of WHS matters

• gain an understanding of the nature of the University's operations and generally of the associated hazards and risks………

• ensure that ANU has, and implements, processes for complying

with any duty or obligation under the WHS Act 2011.

In performing these duties, the University Executive, College Deans and Directors, and Directors ofService Divisions shall:

• hold staff with supervisory or management responsibilities

accountable for managing Work Health and Safety ….. • make satisfactory budgetary provision for WHS programs and

initiatives • include WHS on the agenda of Executive/College/School/Service

Division and senior management meetings • check and review WHS performance including:

• local WHS committee meetings • workplace inspections • trial evacuations • induction of new staff and students.
