Although we are on opposite sides of the desk, and we approach Face-to-face marketing from different directions, our needs are the same. We have the need to make connections, utilize the strength and power that numbers can bring to effect change, and continue to grow as a person and a professional.

When these three needs can be brought together under the umbrella of trade shows and event planning, you have a particularly powerful partner in your corner to help ensure your success both personally and professionally. We are all bombarded with options and opportunities. Especially now with the internet, it makes it very difficult to choose.

Finances are tight. Purse-strings are tighter. How do you determine which organization is going to provide the most value?

Time Constraints: We all have them. As companies downsize we are all expected to do more with less. We may feel squeezed for time; caught between what we want to do and what we can manage.

Accuracy of information - Is the information that is provided, accurate? How do you know? The last thing you need is to present data that may not hold water if challenged. You need to feel confident that your research will stand the test of scrutiny. Private Sources Conflict of interest There are many helpful hints provided for our industry. The trick is to understand their motivation. Service providers certainly have your best interest at heart, but lets face it, their real motivation is to get a foot in the door they are in business to make money and this is a way to meet prospective customers.Skewed perspective the information they provide will certainly be scrubbed to present their interests in the best light. Its not that the information isnt accurate, it just might not be totally objective.Limited information/skills For profit publications may not offer you the total picture. They will present the information that best depicts their organization and agenda which might be lacking. You might have to search several organizations offerings to find answers you are seeking. What are the options?

Data Driven On line reports are great for quick answers but they lack some of the benefits that a more robust, and rounded organization might provide

No interaction we learn best from others who share a passion for the things that are important to us.

No networking although you may get the data you need, you arent strengthening your strategic connections both personally and professionally. You never know when a key connection will be needed. Industry and Event DrivenTHIS IS TSEADedicated. Think of them as being your own personal genie There to help you 24/7. All staff works on nothing but TSEA business. Not for profit TSEA doesn't have a hidden agendaFocused on you. Because you are their reason for existing, they can devote all their attention to serving your needs. This means evolving and continually re-inventing themselves to match pace with changing times and the demands of new technology and industry needs.Voice of industry Can you say strength in numbers? the more support you have in your corner, the more you can accomplish.Focused only on face-to-face marketing. KFC was successful because all they did was chicken. i.e. when you try to do everything, and be everything to everyone, usually something suffers. By focusing on the event and exhibit industry, TSEA is an expert on the issues you need to know about to be successful.WHY TSEA?Networking (Michael takes lead) Local Chapters take a few minutes to elaborate on each of these points, explain your involvement, what happens at these meetings etc.

Dont forget to emphasize the FUNWhy TSEA?Advocacy (Karen takes the lead)

TSEA is your advocate but they can be only as strong as our numbers. The more people who become a part, the more TSEA can help.Voice in the industry. Specifically did not say voice OF the industry. Because what you need is a voice. Someone to yell loudly on your behalf when you cant. Someone who will stand up for you when you alone cant make a dent because when you are alone, you are only one voice. When you belong to an association, you have the backing of many voices.

The stronger TSEA is, the more powerful the ability to take action on your behalf.

Best Practices; TSEA will learn about practices in the industry that just arent going quite the way they should. Could be service providers hiking prices, hotels demanding up front deposits without refunds. TSEA takes these issues and runs with them. Think of them as a LIFELINE they are your personal flotation device when you are sinking in a muck of red tape.

Why TSEA?Education. (Michael take the lead on this) Conferences speak a bit about Emerging leaders and Masters. Since you have attended Masters, you can speak specifically about your experience.Regional Education CHAPTER MEETINGS, CME you have your CME, I have my requirements, just havent submitted yet, but we can both speak to the personal benefits an industry certification affords. Why TSEA? Tie the three key initiatives back into their personal growth.

PERSONAL GROWTH:Networking meeting the right vendors/clients.Broadening your business/social circleBenefiting your company by knowing the right resources to call on when you need them

Advocacy Benefits your company by looking out for you.Lets you do your job better, more efficient.
