    Why should I pay tithing?

    Mark 12 vs 42-44

    The Widows Mite

The question has been asked, why should I pay my tithing when I am not sure where the money is going, or

I am suffering and could use the money to survive.

    Herein is a mystery.

And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many

that were rich cast in much.

And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing.

And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow

hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury:

For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all herliving.

Like our previous discourse we must turn to the past to get our answers

And he said unto them in his doctrine, Beware of the scribes, which love to go in long clothing, and love

    salutations in the marketplaces,

And the chief seats in the synagogues, and the uppermost rooms at feasts:

Which devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayers: these shall receive greaterdamnation.

The widow, knowing that the church leaders who administered the treasury (tithing) were corrupt going

about in long clothing (robes of prominence) seeking praise of men who devour the likes of this widow

who has put all her funds in their care.

Do you think the widow was heart torn seeing these church leaders taking the treasury monies for their own

abuses? In corrupt oblations they taught in synagogues and taking the high seats above the poor and lowly.

Devouring the incomes and pensions of widows. Teaching the Mosaic Law..diminished

I suggest to you that her eye was single to God and not of men. Her obligation and commandment was to

pay into the treasury for the household of God (tithing), in that comes the rewards of the windows of

Heaven being open and her earthly woes turned to heavenly treasures.

Once the money left her hands, her duty of God was fulfilled. What the caretakers of the treasury did withthe monies was their responsibility for they will be accountable for their stewardships.

She could have complained of the tithing moniesbut her trust was in God.

The agreement between God and man is eternal, the funds that are distributed in the treasury decay as with

moth in a garment. The higher law and the higher blessing is predicated upon obedience not to man but to

God, in this comes the blessings and the reward, not of man, but if Heaven.

Notice how He called His disciples to witness the actions of the widow, as to say, blind your eyes to the

corruption of men and see the salvation of God through obedience For your obedience is greater than your

sacrifice and your blessings beyond mortality.

The Scribes being both Pharisees and Sadducees had their hearts set on the things of this world and they

received the rewards of this world, esteemed apparel, widows houses, corrupt incomes and salutations ofmenthat which corrupts.

But the widow has blessing in the mansions of heaven, with the robes of Salvation and Salutations of

    angels through a few mites.
