Looking for Trunk or Treat Volunteers

This year Wide Hollow will be hosting an event called Trunk-or-Treat. We are in need of adults to open their trunks to our students and

pass out candy. If you are able to help us, please fill out the bottom portion and send this back to school with your child. The more trunks, the more fun for our kids. There will also be a prize for the best decorated/original trunk, car, or truck bed.

When: October 28th Time: 6:00-7:00 pm

Trunks will need to show between 5:15-5:45 in order to get set up for trunk or treaters and be available until 7:00pm. Some candy will be provided by PTA, but we ask that you bring a little yourself to give out too.

MILEAGE CLUB As of 9-29-16

Here are the 1st class totals! Encourage your students to do 4 laps a day so they will reach the 50 mile club and get a free T-Shirt.

Mileage Club is every Wednesday and Friday during lunch recess (12:10-12:40). Parents are invited to come out and run/walk with their children. Every student with 50 miles by the end of the year will earn a t-shirt and those who have run 100 miles earn a sweatshirt. Come help us cheer on our Wide Hollow Cubs as they work towards these goals!

Parent volunteers and participates need to have their back-ground checks completed before they are able to join their students for recess.

LUNCH REMINDER! Call by 9:15 am

Remember, if your student will be late to school for an appoint-

ment or any other reason we need you to call the office by 9:15 am

if they want a hot lunch. We have to call in our daily lunch count

by then each morning. If you don’t call your child’s lunch in by 9:15

am, somebody might not get a lunch (it’s usually the 4th graders since they get lunch last). If

parents are having lunch with their child you will need to use money in their account and

remember to call in before 9:15 am. We no longer accept cash at the building.

ATTENDANCE POLICIES

If your child will not be attending school for ANY reason you must

contact the school within 48 hours in order for the absence to be

excused. Please read your Wide Hollow Handbook for policy rules

and regulations. Our office phone number is 972-5550, or you may

e-mail the office at:

[email protected]

DOCTOR & DENTAL APPOINTMENTS

When scheduling appointments please try to schedule them outside of

class time. If you must schedule during class time please ask at the ap-

pointment for an appointment card or a note from the office. Most offic-

es can print out appointment notes very easily. Also, this will assure that

the absence is excused.

ATTENTION PARENTS OF KINDERGARTEN

AND FIRST GRADE STUDENTS:

Kindergarten and first grade is a big adjustment for children

and occasionally the bathroom is just too far away to reach on

time! In preparation for these instances we ask that you please

send an extra set of clothes with your child that can be kept in

their backpack or classroom. This may save you a trip to the school.

ATTENTION ALL VOLUNTEERS/VISITORS!

tion Form each school year. If

you plan to volunteer, eat lunch

or go on field trips with our stu-

year, please come by the office

and pick up a form to fill out.

We also need to make a copy of

your current driver’s license in

order to run the background

check. Please note it takes 7-10

days for the application to be approved. One back-

ground check per year is good at all schools in our

district.

WASHINGTON AUTISM ALLIANCE AND ADVOCACY

Autism 200 Series

Autism 200 Series

Autism 200 is a series of free 90-minute classes for parents and caregivers of children with autism who wish to better

understand this disorder. Community providers are also welcome to attend. Faculty from Seattle Children’s and the

University of Washington and community providers teach the classes. Each class includes time for questions.

Parent to Parent, in partnership with Washington Autism Alliance and Advocacy (WAAA), will be offering Autism 200

classes each third Thursday, monthly (with the exception of December) at Children’s Village. We will be partici-

pating in the class via teleconferencing with Seattle Children’s Hospital. Topics will vary from month to month.

November’s class will be:

Autism 211: In Our Own Words: A panel of Adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder

November 17, 2016 @ 7-8:30 pm, Facilitator: Gary Stobbe, MD

Children’s Village Host: Erin Deery, WAAA

Childcare is available to parents and caregivers only. Please call Stacy at 509-574-3255 to reserve childcare.

(Childcare is for children 1-12 years old).

Please note: The Autism Support Group also meets each third Thursday, monthly, at Children’s Village (from 6-

8:00 pm). This group is for parents and caregivers only. We ask that parents/caregivers choose which group they

would like to attend each month, as it would be disruptive to try to attend both.
