Ladies.......How about Commander Farley and Ted Austin in the green wigs?? What a
feeling of vengeance we received after last year and President Barbara wearing that
skunk!!!!! And we can do it again!!At Convention!! You know, if only one third of ourmembership would bring in one more member we could reach our 100% l! And if one
half of our membership would bring in one new member, we could reach an all time
high!!! Wouldn't that be a nice present for National President Kris Nelson!!Let's do it!!!!
At Spring Conference we were honored to have Irvin Lyons, Commander of The
Military Order of the Purple Heart, speak to us regarding having Kentucþ proclaimed
the first Purple Heart state in the nation. .We
have taken steps to have the Governor do
this and in addition, we would like every city, town, county and yes, even the smallest ofhamlets, also be proclaimed a Purple Heart body. All you have to do is take aproclamation ( a sample is attached) to your governing entity and have them vote on itand in turn have it signed by the mayor, judge executive etc., and then let me know thatit's been accomplished. We owe it to those brave men and women who have receivedthe Purple Heart to be recognized and this is the perfect way to do it.
We were honored to have the National Commander of the Legion, Fang Wong, visit thispast week and what an engaging man!!! He is just a delight to know.
We traveled with him to Madisonville, Ft. Campbell, Frankfort, Lawrenceburg as wellas other sites and found him to be so passionate about the work being done to benefit
our veterans and military. He has a wonderful sense of humor and seemed to be
impressed with our hospitality.
And believe me, the hospitality was outstanding!!! As usual, everywhere we went we
were received warmly and with great food. You all make me so proud!!!
We hope to have a greatvisit with National President Kris, at the upcoming Conventionand hope that each unit will have as many representatives as possible in attendance. It'salways a greattime as well as a special learning experience. And we want to support
the incoming officers as much as possible.
You ladies are so special!! Y'ou will never know how much you mean to me, theAuxiliary our children, our communities and most of all our veterans and our military.
And speaking of special, one member, Vina Leslie, of Shepherdsville has a specialproject that she needs assistance with. She will donate 20 T.V.s to be raffled offand theproceeds will go toward the building of a family care facility (similar to Fisher House)to be built near Ft. Knox. Anyone who is willing to help please contact her at502-531-0989. We applaud Vina for her efforts and ask for your prayers for her as she isdealing with terminal cancer.
See you at Convention!!
